daveinspain Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 TOMMY SKEOCH OF TESLA 'S PERSONALLY OWNED GIBSON LES PAUL HISTORIC R9 1959
AXE® Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Yes. I've played it. And it's a thousand dollars cheaper than it was last week.
daveinspain Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Yes. I've played it. And it's a thousand dollars cheaper than it was last week. Whats with the duck tape and why is he selling it?
AXE® Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 He's been unemployed since 2006. Duct tape = Straplock. He's producing another solo recording, so I guess he needs some funds.
Thundergod Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Is the high price because he used to be famous? Or do these guitars sell for that?
AXE® Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 $4,500 is all I'd pay. He used to be well respected, not so much famous.
Thundergod Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 And those 4500 would be mainly because you are a fan, or would that be the right price, if, say, Tim owned it and wanted to sell it to you?
This_Dying_Soul Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 He used to be well respected, not so much famous. That sounds like a pretty accurate description of not just Tommy's status as a professional guitarist, but also Tesla as a band. They were successful during their time, but they were never what I'd call famous. In the 80's/90's rock music scene they would have been to commercial rock what majority of the Shrapnel Records roster was to shred - lots of guys who were on the same skill level as more famous peers like Malmsteen, Satch and Vai, but just hadn't become household names. Mind you, with the exception of Satch and Malmsteen, most of the famous shredders got there by becoming a sideman to an already famous frontman or joined bands that had a more commercial sound.
