IanMak3103
I must be the happiest man on Earth!! I've been searching for my beloved Epi LP Custom Silverburst for the past 1.5yrs! At one point which I thought I might as well give up trying to find a legit one in Australia. However, I know the manager of my local guitar store quite well, where he told me I can lay a fully refundable deposit to place a backorder and see if Epiphone would ship one to me. That was 2 months ago, and I thought my backorder would just be on paper, while the wait will be like FOREVER (which has been the case for this guitar before). However, I got a phone from the store 2day, saying the guitar has actually arrived!! Surprisingly, it arrived earlier than the expected date, which was end of Aug! I was completely overwhelmed, even better, it was just a Custom, but a Custom PRO w/ coil tapping!!! That's just so special to me, it's better than a dream come true, and worth every minute of the wait! She sounds amazing, and the coil tapping was so much better than my series parallel on my Tribute! However, I saw the Pup stickers stating it's an Alnico classic Magnets, while I thought Custom PROs are suppose to be Probuckers?? Anyway. HNGD!!!!!!! I love her so so much!!! [biggrin] Just a few pics now, more to come...
Kaiser Bill
Congratulations on your shiny new LP Custom. I am on my second Eppy Les Paul. Great guitars!! I hope to make mine even better soon with the addition of Gibson pups from my LP Double cut. I wish you years of fun and in tune playing.
RobinTheHood
Congrats on the guitar! Yes, the original specs claimed that the pickups are Probuckers. It seems that many of the new PRO series guitars are being outfitted with Alnico Classic Pros now. I'm not sure of the difference between the two pickups. It is also possible that they are indeed Probuckers but the label is wrong. Epiphone still has this guitar listed with Probuckers on their press site. RobinTheHood
.......or the magnet of the Probuckers just is Alnico II No doubt they are some form of Alnico. Most likely Alnico II. But the OP said Alnico Classic. I dont think the Probuckers are considered a "classic" pickup. I could be wrong though. Like I said, I dont really know what the differences are between a Probucker and Classic Pro.
RobinTheHood
IIRC only the Probuckers come with 4 wires for push/pull coil split/tab whatever so if the guitar has this feature it must ? be Probuckers So then the Classic Pro would be only a 2-wire pickup? Lefty Bill
A similar situation of confusion/mistake over the purchase of a new guitar model and the expectation of having ProBucker pickups installed, has been presented here before. The ProBucker pickups (announced in 2010) are described in some detail here: ProBucker Pickup Announcement link In an unrelated thread, a while ago (at least several months ago, IIRC) a customer support forum member explained that a name change was applied to an earlier model of p-up, and the new name would be Alnico Classic (instead of the previous Classic 57 name, IIRC). I don't know that I've seen the name *Alnico Classic Pro* before.. are there some special characteristics which would make these more desirable, or just a marketing aspect? Bill Congrats on the guitar! Yes, the original specs claimed that the pickups are Probuckers. It seems that many of the new PRO series guitars are being outfitted with Alnico Classic Pros now. RobinTheHood
Ok, so here is a headscratcher. http://www.epiphone....400-PRO-LH.aspx Title says ProBucker pickups Product features say AlnicoPROTM pickups Specifications say Alnico Classic Pro pickups. ...and the plot thickens! IanMak3103
I was really happy and excited last night, I was basically just sitting in front of her, and even just staring at her I was smiling! I knew she's the one! When I play her, she sounds wonderful, she melts like butter, words can't describe my satisfaction!! Also, I've double checked on my Pups stickers, they both stated as follows: - Alnico Classic Magnets - Authentic Coil Shape/Size - Nickel/Silver Base Plate - Braided Insulation Wire - Double Vacuum Waxed - 4-Conductor Wire Would these descriptions makes it more like Probuckers rather than the old Alnico Classic? Or are they the descriptions of the Alnico Classics PRO??? I'm a bit confused.

Epiphone is blurring the lines between the initial ProBucker labeled pickups and the Classic Pros. I dont know why or if there is even a difference.
