spacealf Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/ProductSpotlight/GearAndInstruments/10-huge-sounds-recorded-521/ Those tones they get in the recording studio....................................... Did you know how they did it?? What ya think about it? (no I did not know it, but now I do) Any comments??
Twiz Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Cool article. I am actually gassing for a Carvin VT16 for this exact reason. My other small amp currently is a Vox AC4TV. I love cranking that thing. Great rock tone.
Texasbluezman Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 That is reason the price is skyrocketing on the smaller amps now. I remember small tubes selling for cheap in the '80s. I could of had an army of 'em. Damned MTV made me want a stack more than a girlfriend. But I still got a girlfriend anyways.
FirstMeasure Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 To further the Rev's story, even though he has a leaning tower of cabinets on stage his big sound comes from a fender twin back stage (or under the stage). And one fault I must call on the Gibson writer who stated Page played LP's through Marshals with a Tele "Subbed in" on occasion? That Tele was his sound onthe first two albums and much of his later recordings, including the most famous solo break on record (Stairway). C'mon man, ACCURACY!!
rocketman Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Double the watts does not equate to twice as loud. Small amps pack a lot of power. All the great players knew it.
