NGD: Epiphone Casino (Natural)

I got a really nice deal on this "used" Casino from MF. I had a sunburst MIK model, but sold it and owned a '61 Reissue for a short time. I also had the chance to play an "Inspired by John Lennon" model for a few days. I gotta say, I prefer the tone and playability of this guitar over the "inspired by..." and the Reissue. These pickups seem to have more of a ringing, jangly nature, to my ears. I also love the grain of this guitar.

Can anyone tell me what these are strung with from the factory? They feel like .10's.

Nice Casino...I just bought exactly the same 2 weeks ago and also a used from MF. It's a fantastic guitar. I did'nt play my Strat since then. The one I received had 10-46 gauges strings, I presume yours the same.

Enjoy your Casino, It's a nice gutar.

Gotta love the recent uptick in natural Casinos showing up here. Mine's a little darker than most, but the grain in it is beautiful.

I love that collection, they look nice all lined up. I'm guessing u put the p90 covers on yourself and got a terrapin scratch plate for your casino?

Thanks. Ya, and this picture doesn't have the Zephyr Blues Deluxe in it, I'm going to have to update. John, at Terrapin, did the guards, first with the stock Casino bracket and the raised E. The picture above has the second black guard. I put a 335 type bracket and a shiney foil E. The Pickups are Pete Biltofts. The first set was creme, then I did another set in black (he bonds his pickups to the covers, so it's virtually impossible to change them). Here's the progression from when I bought it, to where it is today.

Nice collection Tweed.

What model are your Strat and Tele ?

The Strat is a early Haywire guitar, out of South Carolina. I bought from him before his stuff became popular (and expensive). A mixture of Fender and aftermarket parts, including SRV pickups. I changed the body to a flamed-maple a year ago. The tele is a parts-caster, of mostly Squire stuff. I stripped the body (was candy apple red, [thumbdn] ) and refinished it. The pickups are a twisted tele neck and a Kent Armstrong hot tele bridge, an agressive Nashville sound. The whole guitar cost $200 (and a lot of work), but I got lucky on the neck, it's my only maple-neck guitar, hence the name MapleCaster.

Nice. It's definitely the best how it is now. I like the black covers and black scratchplate. Sweet guitar mate. Had a cherry casino about 7 or 8 years ago. I stripped it to the bare wood and stained it, it was a beauty and unique. Like an idiot I sold it, I'd love to track it down and put an offer in.

After the Sheraton I'm gonna look at a casino, I like the 61 reissue but it depends if there's any still around when I'm ready to buy!

I got a 339 a short time ago and it came strung with D'addario's XL110's (10 - 46). Which just happens to be my strings of choice! [thumbup]

The strings on my Casino don't have the colored ball ends of the D'Addarios. I guess it really doesn't matter, as I'll change them to D'Addarios anyway. Thanks for your response though. It was the only one that addressed my question.

Nice guitar, Rockabillybob!!!

wanted to start a new thread but now I don't have to...

Looks like they glue the neck/body at 16th fret on the standard Casino now (used to be 17th).

I thought that it might a typo on their site but it is not, obviously.

Your guitar is the proof.

I just bought one in February myself. Great guitar. I own many guitars and I can tell you that the Casino is a great buy. I'm so impressed that I just ordered another Epi today...a LP Plus Top Pro. Also just got a LP Ultra III. I'm on a roll! I really like the MIC Casino pups too. That is what I like about them...nice and jangly.

By the way I'm new to the forum.
