  1. The only way I have been able to add photos here is to use the service Imgur to store and move pics around to forums. I'm thankful there are tools for dummies.
  2. Another LG1 or LG2? 'V' under/below the sound hole is the latter. Straight across brace just under the sound hole (attached to underside of top) makes it an LG1.
  3. Well, that visible confirmation of the bracing configuration would seal the deal either way. If it's ladder braced it's no LG2, although there was a specific Banner period where Gibson built a few Xbraced guitar called LG1. If you play it and like it, not intending to sell, then just enjoy it. It could probably use a set up to make it easier to fret. Hopefully not needing a neck reset to lower the action. That's expensive.
  4. Yeah, but what about the straight ladder bracing? Doesn't that make it an LG1?
  5. Will Ray Stealth? Thanks, Z. I'll check 'em out.
  6. Shubb bullnose and vintage Waverly heavy bar for lap, and Peaceland ring for upright. Glass isn't 'growly' enough for me.
  7. Plenty of ladder-lovers here. You'll hear, I'm sure. Have that center seam crack cleated as soon as you can, so it doesn't run under the bridge to the sound hole.
  8. LG1 (hope not), LG2 (thumbs up). The LG2 has the typically preferred and more valuable Xbrace, looking like a V shape just under and below the sound hole. Straight across brace is ladder bracing, the LG1 design.
  9. The first pic has an angle that makes it look smaller than a J, but I can't tell. Maybe a L? If lower bout width is full 16", then you have a J. I don't know about 10K, but you should be pinching yourself and hoping you don't wake up.
  10. Suggest you move the question to the Gibson Custom forum heading.
  11. Your 'certificate' tells you what it is. Next, join Reverb.com and go to their price guide where you'll find comparison parameters.
  12. I've used pure naptha to remove pickguard glue, ragging it on as above, but some scuz isn't affected by it. I've had success with Mr, Clean Magic Eraser, though, for sticky necks, using it as instructed with warm water. Then a wipe with warm water dampened cotton rag.
  13. Hope you get some real-time feedback on the J185. Sounds like you wouldn't be able to know until it was set up properly, but the rough fingerboard would be enough for me to bail, or at least compare. Like you, I enjoy having the two tones of a RW and a hog.
  14. 'Super balanced...chords ring out'? You pretty much already own the ultimate strummer.
  15. Hi Tom. Are you saying Vermonter's find is X braced? Is Tom correct, Vermonter? Thanks. Dave
  16. The only ladder braced I'd ever consider. Nice find, Vermonter.
  17. Looks from the photo to not be bound in back.
  18. Snoop around on Reverb to get a feel for the value. https://reverb.com/p/gibson-l-00-1932-1945
  19. A sweet ol' 30s/40s L00! See about restoration with a good vintage shop. Consult Steve Kovacik if you'd like the bottom line from a guy who knows these guitars. Message me if you'd consider selling as is. https://guitar-repair.com/

    L-00 ?

Maybe an L1, with that larger lower bout. Guard also looks oversized, but the general shape is pretty close. Too bad his hands are covering the peg head.
  21. I look at guitars as things I'm renting anyway. In the end, we're all just renting stuff. I love my '50 J50.
  22. If you can play it and it sings to you, 7-8K. If there's a return option, all the better. If not, and for some reason you don't bond, someone else will. I don't think I could ever pay that much for a guitar, not being that good a player, but most guitars are great for comparison research on the climb to that special keeper. I keep playing the game in my price range, stress and all.
  23. Sounds awesome! W/O pics, 7K and up, is my guess. https://reverb.com/item/59643954-gibson-j-45-1947-with-custom-calton-case
