  1. All originals written with my bff Swedish keyboardist writing partner.
  2. Yukgaejang for lunch. Korean beef soup with vegetables. I'm working in Koreatown L.A. most of this month.
  3. It was amazing. Very rich and filling and the only bummer is that the restaurant is in trouble for the next 3 months for something (probably serving a minor) and there was no soju to be had. I have to try budae jungoi. I'll ask my wife, maybe Friday when we go back. One of the effects of the recent trip we had is that I am completely addicted to Asian food.
  4. Exactly and tonight will be Galbi Jihmm at a different restaurant (my wife's spelling not mine ). I've been working last week and today in our Koreatown location and she is staying with me. . Here it is:
  5. It was amazing. We were treated like royalty. My wife's Korean so everyone assumed she was Chinese and spoke to her in Chinese. She didn't understand a lick and I speak a little Mandarin so I would answer. I was approached by many people wanting to have their picture taken with a Meiguoren (American). Many places I was the only caucasian around.
  6. Just took the trip of a lifetime - around the world in 21 days. Believe it or not the trip was work related. Started off by flying from LA to Portugal in late September. Spent a few days in Porto then Lisbon then went to Madrid, Spain. Flew from Madrid to Frankfurt then to Hong Kong where I posted a photo on this thread of Dim Sum. Went to Beijing and Shijiazhuang (I'd never heard of it either, city in Heibei province with over 4 million people), then Shanghai, Suzhou and finally Hangzhou (where the G-20 was just held). Flew from Shanghai to Seoul to LA on Sunday. I've never eaten like I did on this trip It was both amazing and also at times little strange. I ate loads of vegetables and fungi that I have never eaten before in China. Absolutely delicious. Also dumplings in China are the best. I also ate some weird stuff like snails, intestines, silkworm pupae within the cocoon (I accidentally ate the entire thing instead of sucking out the worm and leaving the cocoon), stinky tofu, and durian fruit. Meals in China were HUGE. They kept bringing out food and just when you thought you were finished, more would come. I recommend just taking a few bites of stuff when the meal started or else you get full too quickly. Here are some photos: Sardines in Porto: Seafood in Lisbon: Hot Pot in Beijing (Put meat and or fish into boiling water – delicious): Typical meal in Shijiazhuang: Countryside feast in Zheng Ding City: Fresh hairy crab in Suzhou (seasonal):
  7. Digger my wife used Yelp. It was raved about and it was a Michelin 1 star! We are still talking about it and savorimg our belches :-). (TMI I know)
  8. Wife and I are in Hong Kong. Had Dim Sum in the provence where it was invented. I usually try not to eat too many carbs. Couldn't resist tonight. Also sautéed snow pea sprouts. Unbelievable good. Walked outside to a monsoon downpour. Fantastic and unique night for a couple of Californians.
  9. Grilled chicken legs with Kansas City dry rub. Been baching it these days. Not even a salad with it. Need to go to the ferking grocery store.
  10. I'm an MRI radiologist and I have seen it a few times, typically palm fronds out here in the west but really any thorns or splinters can do it. Inflammation, retained foreign bodies, and infection are the big problems with it. Best of luck with it.
  11. braunschweiger liverwurst sandwich Had a steak earlier for Father's Day though. Fantastic.
  12. Visiting Missouri with the wife (where she is doing her internship) and her father and brother. We went fishing. Her father caught a 7 pound catfish and I caught a 4 pound small mouth bass, We ate then (fried them) along wth Korean Kalbi, Kim Chee rice with mushrooms and sweet potato on the fire.
  13. At my brothers. Tonight an Argentinian friend made grilled sweetbreads with lemon and they were crispy and awesome. Then lamb leg with rosemary, parsley and mint, butternut squash and mache' salad with mozzarella. Just awesome. Flying to Arkansas tomorrow to play the biggest gig of the year for me to benefit the Alzheimers Association. Good time.
  14. Completely agree. And I don't need to change out the bridge pick up because I am ok with a 490 T (it is fantastic). I played it both humbucking and coil split at practice on Saturday. Both sound amazing with preserved nuance. In fact, Steely Dan's Josie, which I usually play on a strat, sounds fabulous on this guitar with the middle toggle position, coil split. I didn't have to change guitars.
  15. I think you are correct. Thanks Bence, I am a bit embarrassed but I learned that. I researched it and still didn't realize that. Luckily Gibson customer service was right on it, they answered me at 0200 in the morning.
  16. Bought it a month ago. Got it, play it, love it, sounds (and looks and plays) amazing. Looked up the particulars. Advertised as a classic lite and back of headstock says 2014 model. Advertisements said 2014 was Sunburst, 2013 they had ebony. This one is ebony. Serial number begins 14xx0xxx. Gibson's website says first and 5th number are year (this would be 2010). 2nd - 4th number are julian calender date. What is 400 something? Beginning to freak a bit. Pickups advertised as 490R, 498T. I was going to replace the 498 with a burstbucker 2, 4 conductor. I took the bridge pickup out and it had a sticker that said 490T. Advertised when I bought it as 12K DC resistance. 490T is in the 8K range. I thought "crap I have a counterfeit". No 120th anniversary 12th fret inlay was there and it is a plain block inlay. No diamond inlay on the headstock but everything was MOP. Plays incredibly well. I looked up a lot about counterfeits. This fit nothing except: serial isn't right according to Gibson's website, pickups are wrong (at least not any advert I could find and I did a lot of research), no 120 anniversary 12 fret inlay, serial number meant that it was the 420 something day of the julian calender. I don't pretent to know about the julian calender but I know there are 365 days a year, not 400 something. Again, and often, I am totally wrong. I was all conspiracy theory crazy for a day and I wrote to Gibson and they responded back very simply with: 2014 model, Gibson Les Paul Lite, ebony with gold hardware. I don't know why the serial doesn't fit with the website criteria. Don't know why no 12th fret banner. Maybe it was a guitar center model. You guys and gals probably know. I stressed for nothing. I practiced with this guitar last night. It is pure awesomeness. Moral of the story? Hell I don't know. Don't stress maybe? The world isn't out to rip me off always. Sometimes, but not in this case.
