  1. Chicken, vegetables, on a bed of rice and a glass of whole milk.👅

My goodness that sounds healthy....well done!

We had a few upsets just before tea with Mum last night and I was too agitated to cook properly. I ended up with a couple of fat beef sausages, chips and a couple of out fresh eggs all fried up. Tomato sauce and a slice of bread & butter.

Generally I've been eating less over the last few weeks which has allowed me to reduce my insulin by 4 points, also lost about 3 kilos.

  2. I actually haven't asked but hopefully KG whiting! Maybe some razor fish (shellfish discs if you've not had them). It'll be good - I'm sure of that!

Yes I'd imagine KGW would be a possibility. We have travelled to Coffin Bay every other year for some time now as the whiting are easily caught there. Cowell on the way down supplies our bag of blue swimmers and I almost forgot, Coffin Bay has the most magnificent oysters! $8 a dozen and some of them were 5" long....bloody beautiful!

This is where we stayed last trip to Coffin Bay!

  3. Father in law is planning a big seafood BBQ for the family on Good Friday (he's recently back from a fishing trip to South Australia - Streaky Bay Dig) - so I feel like I should probably fast for the next 2 days [biggrin]

    Sounds good! Any blue swimmers?

    Streaky Bay.

Nice place, bloody long way from here but is an American's worst nightmare.....lots of big white Noah's!

  4. I love the original Kentucky Fried Chicken when Kernel Sanders owned it. When I worked at Omaha Standard in Council Bluffs, they had one across the street I would go to and come back and eat on the sidewalk with all the guys off Broadway. We very rarely go their anymore but it's still good. There were a few fast food places walking distance across the street then plus they brought in a food wagon for the guys, so we had a lot to choose from. We may not eat at Kentucky but once in four years if that because my wife loves their cole slaw but can't eat it. She's milk lactose tolerant. She doesn't do well with milk or cheese products. Yea, I've been to some restaurants here and saw four to five hundred pound people inside eating and it makes me want to eat less and lite. My wife teaches water aerobics and she had three of them come to her class for awhile way back. They had to hook up a crane host to pick them up out of their wheel chair to put them in and out of the pool. They must have weighed over 600 lbs. maybe 700 lbs. they had special made very wide wheel chairs and they more or less slouched in them.

Chuckle........... I reckon they're going to need a hoist or crane to get me off the boat next month, given all those lovely food sources!!

  5. Ha, sorry for your diet and temptation Dig. This thread I actually love. Best one yet I'd get on every day and keep going but if it bothers you we shouldn't temp you! I've lost weight due to my Bronchitis and haven't been too hungry. So far today I've only had one bowl of chicken noodle soup.

Chuckle...I'm responsible for my self control. not you so post away!

Speaking of self control. we were in town looking a some paintings belonging to a friend and artist with a view to picking one for a raffle. After we left I said I was hungry and that was it we ended up at KFC!

    How bad was that?

I only eat that stuff about twice a year but each time I look around me Is see very obese people, it should tell me something~

  6. Well...some months ago you posted a pic of some fried eggs.

    And plenty of fish.

And that nice outdoor oven you have.

Sunday morning is coming up; juice, fruit, cereal, eggs, bacon, home-made bread, coffee for me.

Since 60 and the male menopause a few years ago (it's real) I've been putting weight on myself...

    Got me!

About 10 years ago I damaged my back and all exercise came to a screaming halt. Since then the weight has been going on and as you've pointed out, I love food.

  7. I'm trying to lose weight ATM as I'm too tubby and having trouble fitting into some of my pants!

I'm hungry all the time because for the last few weeks I've been cutting back on what I eat.

No snacks, one serve of main course (no seconds), nothing after mains! I don't ever eat dessert but was in the habit of sneaking a bit of chocolate or a few lollies after my meal craving something sweet.

Those things are now banned 'cause if they are here I will give i and eat them.

I've even got some jam filled lamingtons going stale in the cupboard, and I love lamingtons!! Not sure how universal lamingtons are so here's a link.( I love the jam (jelly) filled ones!!)

So far I have dropped 3 kilos!

I was 85 kilos but at 5'7 1/2" it was too much weight to carry. I think that's about 13 stone.

So food threads need to be avoided or I will give in to temptation....Grin~

  8. No Celiacs (coeliac) disease but the G.I. Doc. (I have lots of great clients that are Dr's) believes it's Gluten Intolerance and you can react more violently to that with gluten intake that even Celiacs. Celiac disease is potentially life threatening and the Intolerance just makes you really sick & fast too. Like you were all beat up by a gorilla.

    Aster

That's no good but I am finding it hard imagining being beaten up by a Gorilla!!

    A Wombat yes~

  9. With all the food allergies/intolerance I've developed meals are getting very complex and not as much fun.

    Breakfast this AM:

Cream of Rice hot cereal w/ dairy free margarine, honey, raisins, & toasted pecan bits, MSG free pork sausage, & multi-grain gluten free toast with blackberry jam. Sometimes throw in a scramble egg cooked in coconut oil.

Finally found a hot cereal that, believe it or not doctored up, really tastes good. [biggrin]

Biggest challenge is finding GOOD tasting/texture Gluten free bread. Finally found some but you pay dearly for a loaf. Oh well, one slice in the AM for Bfast isn't going to break me and I gotta eat something.

    Aster

I didn't know you had these problems "A", do you a coeliac condition?

I have a couple of friends that do, one of them my best mate and I see his struggle with finding things he likes to eat. I try hard to match what he's eating as I can't stand the thought of eating something he can't have in front of him. I understand about the gluten free bread and how hard it is to get something palatable and how expensive it is as I've followed the problem with Dave.

I guess as we age there is more propensity for health problems. When we were younger these things would probably never have occurred to us, nor would we have realised how fragile our health can be.

However, there is only one way to go and that is forward!

Do you see yourself being able to back of work a bit, anytime soon?

  10. Interesting reading this actually and it seems that I don't have big lunches by comparison to some of you.

I usually have a toasted sandwich or roll followed by an apple. Sometimes it might be reheated leftovers from earlier on, but not much really.

I'm trying to cut back on the size of meals that I have as I was eating too much and that requires more insulin to counteract, then insulin is fattening, so a vicious circle.

Cutting back allows me to reduce insulin too,

    I never have dessert!

  11. Dunno about lunch yet but tonight I was planning to do some chicken rolls, cheese and bacon. That is thinly cut/pounded chicken breast wrapped around a block of vintage cheddar and all wrapped with a nice smokey bacon. (Bit of spray oil and cooked on a grill or in a pan. Do not overcook!)

Probably cut some small potatoes in half and sauté them and accompany with a whole cob of super sweet corn. Usually a BBQ dish but gonna be a bit inclement outside tonight. Maybe a thin gravy with a slightly apricot mustardy flavour?

I did a large Rib Eye on the BBQ last night as I was on my own and it was to die for!

  12. When I bought my Casino from the retail arm of the Epiphone distributor (Gallin's Melbourne) not only did I have a hard time finding one on display that didn't have obvious problems, but I was given "nothing" with it, just the bare guitar. I even had to buy a gig bag to get it home safely! For $980 AUD would have expected better!

I won't go back there ever and it left a sour taste in my mouth about Epiphone unfortunately.
