People from Mars are slobs, ever heard of a trash can?

The damn Martians are ruining the planet.  How the hell are we supposed to live there in twenty million years?

  2. Have any of you folks used one of these?  I just recently heard about them, although they’ve been out for a few years.  They just stick on the the back of your guitar and you can add reverb, chorus, etc.  I realize they are not a full-blown amp, but actually an acoustic enhancement.

  3. With a high tech camera in the pocket of  hundreds-of-millions of people, I’m eagerly waiting for an up-close picture of Bigfoot.  We have ample evidence of large things swimming in The Loch (as well as other inland lakes) and they are very likely animals that are totally natural  and they are not monsters.  We have countless pics of strange objects in the sky and many are very clear and verified by the best technology in the world.  I have no idea what they actually are, but when the pilots of many modern combat aircraft see the and have often chased them, I tend to believe they are real physical objects.  Maybe they are a natural phenomena that we don’t yet understand or maybe they are something else……….

MP, thanks for the kind words. You are more than welcome to steal or borrow whatever you like😊

At first I thought the song needed more details, but after I found that line, I realized what is not told can be just as interesting as what is spelled out. I’m glad you heard it as I hoped for.

    Lars

Lars, exactly!  Sometimes, less is more.   You told the entire framework and let the listener fill-in the blanks.   This could have been a love that was lost or a love that was simply never realized with someone one seen but never met.  Good stuff.

  5. Wow!  Good song, old friend.  Written from the heart.  Strong lyrics.  Gentle and somber guitar.  Very fitting for this song.  I particularly like

Some memories are stones in our shoes
with each new step the cut goes deeper

Outside my Northern home the snow falls to the ground
while I'm alone inside with the words I never found

Many of us have regrets similar to this.  Life if full of “what ifs.”  Lars, your writing has come a long, long way.   You told an entire story in just a few lines.   Well done…..”Some memories are stones in our shoes with each new step the cut goes deeper” is a really strong line.  I may have to borrow that one sometime…lol…….Good song, Lars!

That is really good to hear.  Especially so because if I buy one, it will most likely be over the internet without playing it first. (I know everybody, I know - bad idea.  Live in Maine like I do and see what other options you come up with.)

I’ve bought several guitars over the internet.  No problems.  Just buy from reputable dealers or sites like Reverb.

If you can't play it without significant pain - the answer is obvious.

I agree.  You want/need a guitar you can play without it hurting your hands.  The more painful it is/gets, the less you’re going to enjoy playing it.  So far, I don’t have any real difficulty with arthritis.  I get some pain and stiffness, but nothing that keeps me from playing my typically inept technique.   I understand the desire for a certain guitar, but maybe you can find something very similar to it (although i wouldn’t want to kill a dream either).  ……..Several years ago, (I won’t mention the brand), I had to have one of those guitars that had a wolf pack, or a bunch of horses running, or an eagle flying above the desert that was carved onto the top..   I kept it for less than a week, then returned it.  Nothing wrong that was apparent, aside from it being a total dud.  I suspect if it were a Gibson, I’d had given it more of a chance…….Anyway, RB, I hope you make the right choice for you.

  8. I was never much of a Zappa fan.  Don’t think he had any influence on me.  Just didn’t hear much of him on the Top 40 back then.  Hell, I wasn’t even a major Beatles fan, although I did like their folksy stuff……….You know, come to think of it, maybe Zappa did influence me.  I haven’t eaten any yellow snow for years.

I absolutely loath Rap, but that doesn't mean it fake.

Right after you typed all those periods is the truth. Just like mine about the guitars many like here.

Jerry Garica and it in Scarlet Begonias, I ain't often right - but I've never been wrong.

My opinion is always right too.

We’re a lot alike.  We should both be very worried.

Is there fake music out there? Or just music your not a fan of. I hate Rap, but is it not a real music genera?

Correct!  And Rap is not music.   ……Just my opinion and that doesn’t make me right and someone else wrong…….but I’m rarely ever wrong.

Here's a replacement that YOUTUBE hasn't removed.    Not saying it's  'vintage'  Emmylou -   you can tell from the elastic rubber band type capo Rodney Crowell is using.   There's no such thing as a bad Emmylou video !

Hey, did any of you guys notice that Emmylou plays a guitar?  I’ve listened to her for years, seen many videos, and saw  her “live,” but never noticed she was playing a guitar.  Damn!  What in hell was I doing?

  12. Never cared about KISS!  Costumes like that belong in the Mad Max movies.    In music they send a message of silliness and something that is not  anything more than a lame theatrical act.  No doubt it dates me, but I’ve always been drawn to music that says something to me about my own life and feelings.

  13. I’ve got a Southern Jumbo and have always understood that it’s pretty much a J45, but just a bit more fancy looking.  Then there’s the Sheryl Crow SJ……. At one point I considered one of those.  Lets face it, having one of those is about as close as I’ll ever get to touching something that looks like something that touched Sheryl Crow’s lap.  Anyway, I don’t need to be touching or sniffing something like that late at night ( there’s already more than enough Emmylou pictures floating around this forum)…….  As it turned-out, I bought Rosewood SJ.

  14. When I was a truck driver I’d often drop-off trailers for furniture stores.  I’d go into the warehouse and bullshit with the folks.  I got to see the “aged and distressed” furniture.  They actually put dents in new furniture with hammers and scratch it with a wire brush.   The only thing “aged and distressed” about the furniture was the way it was painted.
