Can I ask when you pre-ordered it? I don't understand how the U.K. retailers do this. I thought we just go on the website in August and try to get the guitar. Apparently there is a backdoor pre-order unannounced anywhere, so when the guitar is unveiled in August there will be none available for anybody as all of the limited orders have been pre-ordered from back in May 2022 without even so much as an advert in May on these retailers websites about how to do this. Load of nonsense. As I say, looking forward to the mass produced Riviera if these rumours are accurate. Epiphone better not mess that release up with this pau ferro baloney either. Either go big on it or go home Epiphone.

Aug 30 is the targeted official announcement from Gibson (it could be sooner). The Epiphone Riviera’s will be available in mid Sept. I know the exact date for when they will be available here in Canada. Just can’t say..By the way there will be more Epiphone Riviera’s available as opposed to the 355 (Limited to 200), so in theory should be easier to get one.

Some real shady dealings going on with that. Think Rishi Sunak and the rest of the lads all got in on those 10. Guitar isn't even to be released until end of August, no mention anywhere on these retailers websites of a pre-order or pre-sales. Nada. I contact Andertons ask about the guitar a month ago - response is, 'oh the one we are getting in is already pre-ordered, we can put you on the wait list which is pretty long though!' Yippee! Same with Guitar Guitar, GAK etc. **** show of a release. Bring on the mass wine red Epi Riviera and keep it moving N.G. Also preferably a reissue of the sunburst Sheraton from Knebworth somewhere down the line.

Lots of folks has $10K to spend on the guitar it seems….Or they got on the financing program..LMFAO. I got my on order, basically first come first serve….You have to be on the ball on these things. Also preferred customers normally get first dibs..

I found the link below and wrote asking if they had already had it up for sale or just prepared for the release. They replied that "unfortunately this product is out of stock, we will not receive more units of this product in the future." Seems like some collectors have already "preordered" or made deals with dealers.

Yeah some countries are only getting a limited number. North of the border only 2 will be shipped..

Not sure of the release date, but there will be a signature Riviera available before the end of the year.
This was teased as a possible release back in January (along with the 355). UK price quoted for the re-issue is £799.

For me, the Matsumoku Riviera is the definitive Oasis guitar.

Yeah the 355 was the one everyone was talking about. Already locked in on that. Only just recently heard through a connection regarding the Matsumoku Riviera and pricing and release date. So I gotta pick that one up too…

Sounds awesome because the limited quantity and price of the sig. ES355 is outrageous - anymore details on the Riviera? I'll definitely be seeking one of these. Fingers crossed they do a version of the Sheraton played at Knebworth at some stage with the full fingerboard fret markers and frequensator!

Mark Aug 30 down as that is the targeted announcement date. North of the border the wine red Matsumoku Riviera will be retailing for $1219, so maybe in States approx $800 - $900.

I hope you know I was just joking Hype.  If you want a ES-355 TDSV you should go for it. As I said I have a 2009 ES-345 and I really like the guitar. I sometimes use the stereo with two of my amps and I use the Varatone quite often, esp. in my buddie's studio. I call it my analogue modeling guitar. Several great players made very good use of these features.

I sold my Les Paul when I got my dream guitar, a Gibson Johnny A Signature. We only go around once in life.

     Thanks john

I have a 2011 Antique Ebony VOS with Bigsby ES-355….But I want a red 355 similar to Marr, Butler and Gallagher’s….So I’m gonna get it.

I like Noel. I hate stereo variotones.

If you like Noel, then you might be interested to know “word on the street” is that Epiphone will be doing a repro on Noel’s Epiphone Matsumoku Riviera (one seen in the “Morning Glory”, “Champagne Supernova” & “Don’t Look Back In Anger” vids)….MSRP apparently $1219 CAD so approx $950 USD…

Will the Murphy Lab, break the neck and re-glue the headstock back on?   Imagine how much my 1969 SG Std. is worth! Even less than the Steve Ford model.  I will have to stick with my ES345 in walnut.

     Thanks John

No. It won’t be done by the Murphy Lab….They’ll send the guitar to Liam. He’ll break it properly like he did Noel’s..

Hold out for the Steve Ford Signature Model, probably get it for $499 with a hardshell case.

All kidding aside, let us know how it is when it shows, please.

Won’t be til earliest end of Aug/early Sept

Where do they come up with these figures?  Maybe they have a little Wheel Of Fortune desktop spinner, starts at $4999 and ends at $9999.

And... and... and... $9799 it is!!!

I suppose it's all in how popular an artist is.  If they were to do a Steve Ford Signature model they'd take the base price and then discount it by 65% and throw in a handfull of guitar picks and hope for the best.

Should be roughly $9799 USD. I already put a down payment on it in CAD (roughly $12,600)

Not a twinge of longing.  But we are also lucky when it comes to Elvis guitars if that is your thing.  We own a 1960 J200 so built the same year as the guitar Elvis played through most of the 1960s.  I originally paid about 1/2 of what this new version is running.  While that may sound like a deal, it was the most I had ever laid out on a guitar.

Nice. So you got it back in 1960 the J-200? Or back then I guess they went by SJ-200? Is it natural? Also, you must’ve paid approx $200 back then….Which is still a lot of money..

I was special ordering ebony Doves and J200s back in the 90s.  As well as J45s.  All with standard features     Nothing wrong with buying a Elvis family endorsed Gibson.  Its what make you happy.      If it was me. If you like the size of the J200 ,  get it.

I have a 2009 J-200 Sunburst and a 2016 Hummingbird vintage…And always wanted an Ebony Dove particularly Elvis’ model….Tough choices out there.

  13. Anyone excited for these models? I’m looking forward to the Dove. I’ve wanted one of these since 2005, but back then I did not have the funds. But I have a dilemma now, I can only fund 1 purchase right now. So it’s either gonna be 1) EP Dove or 2) Gretsch Falcon Players (Midnight Sapphire) which I too wanted a Falcon in like forever….

    HELP!!!
