Does anyone here know the difference between Tortex and Tortex Flow picks? Is it a question of shape?
I believe it’s just the shape difference. The Flows look and feel more matted if I recall..
i really like the Dunlop Tortex Jazz III 1.14mm

Fake as F**k. Can spot these from Pluto.

I loved the ES-330L Beale Street Blue released about 10 years ago….A proper 1959 ES-355 Stereo with the B7 Gold Bigsby and Varitone would be nice too…
Well, you didn’t get a ‘59 but you got a ‘60 repro 355. Any chance you’ll pickup that EP Dove you keep going on about?

I am based in Italy and they all sold out before reaching the shops. I am waiting for the second batch to be delivered. Around here a few are on sale, but at prices much higher than in the shops: some people bought these guitars just to flip them, what a shame.
Will post a pic when I get mine!
Some guy was flipping a NG ES-355 for like $25K at one point in time in Italy..Crazy flippers everywhere. But on a NG Riviera? What were they asking? Double?

You can update your preferences or unsubscribe from this list. Thanks Dave..Sounds like good news. I heard these were limited to 200. Wondering if some got delayed due to materials? Or perhaps other guitars took priority..

So went to the guitar store to checkup the status, possibly 8-12 months….Oh well. Best things come to those who wait.

As I said in another thread, I ordered mine.
The shop told me that they expect to receive ten rivieras between October and March, not all at once, and they don't know when the first will be delivered. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long.
I’ve seen a few at local shops nearby me..Depending on where you are, they may have more or less supply..They are not flying off shelves here in my area..

I went to Graceland and bought a few post cards with E's favorite recipes on them. The PB & B Sandwich was one of them. I had it on my fridge when I was a bachelor, when I had a townhouse. Its in a drawer somewhere. I need to find it and put it back on the fridge. My parents saw E a few times. I remember staying at my Grandparents apartment when they went to Reno to see him.
I guess to make it more like the original you need to attach the sticker, but do you really want to put as sticker on a 4k guitar?
Nah. That sticker is ugly. Elvis was going through his Karate phase during this time. I’m not sure what the delay here is exactly on this EP Dove shipping to Canada….

How many others ordered this guitar?

If not just pose with it and do karate moves on stage with it like E did.
I need to get my jumpsuit first and gain a few hundred pounds. If these EP Doves ever ship here (again taking forever to arrive), I’ll play my EP Dove while eating PB & Banana sandwiches for breakfast..Guess I’ll have to put on that Kempo Karate sticker on..

The Jazz III is what I like as well. Tortex, nylon, whatever. They’re easy to play and they last a long time
I’ve seen a variety of really expensive picks and I haven’t tried them but I don’t think that’s for me. I lose picks a lot anyways
Seems many on here like the Jazz III’s. Most likely due to shape it seems. You use Jazz III’s for mostly lead? Or for rhythm as well?

I have been windering about the new NG Riviera, byt I am not sure abiut the neck: the reissue has the slim taper neck, but I read somewhere that the originals have chunky necks. Do you know if it is true?
@AldoMcD1Dude I think you can definitely answer this one..

I’m in the same boat. Gibson long ago stopped being a working man’s guitar maker, and now makes guitars for the well to do. It’s capitalism, and us ‘Mericans would not have it any other way. Can’t afford a 50k guitar, too fukin bad, others can. Go buy one of our off brand Epi’s at $600 and have a nice day.
Don’t think Gibson was ever a working man’s guitar maker. It was always something to aspire for, provided you had the funds. Not matter what era. All the model numbers were originally named after the price. You think acquiring a SJ-200 was a working man’s guitar back in the late 1930-1940s when one was making $0.05 to $0.15 an hour?

Hi folks
I have been looking for this guitar for a long time with no chance. I found one with the frequensator, but I am looking for the latest version with the 335-like bridge.
Should you want to sell it please PM me. I am based in Italy. Thanks.
Buy the NG Riviera it’s cheaper and it’s a repro of the original Matsumoku Riviera which costs much more.

never much higher than noon on the volume knob, if i need louder i flip up to 1 or 4 w on the attenuator knob. keep it '60s clean even with humbucker guitars and let the pedals throw their weight around. i should just switch to a fender or heck a roland 120, but the beatles vibe is too strong with vox.
Damn you like the noise.

I never did get one. The first time I could afford a new Gibson would have been in the early-1970s when I had a real (albeit temporary) job. And the Gibsons they were churning out at the time were, to put it kindly, not exactly the best of the breed. So, my first Gibson ended up being a guitar built between 1955 and 1959.
The Norlin era Gibsons are not looked upon kindly, though funny how nostalgia changes everything. Now 1974 LP Customs are highly regarded. Though the 70’s Gibson acoustics aren’t raved about much..

I would only get a EP Dove or EP J-200 If it was signed by Elvis.
I got a new J-15 when I was about 49. Am I in the club? I no longer have it though.
What happened? You sold it? The EP Dove and J-200s are nice…Stupid supply chain.

I was 60 - 'wished for' - got an almost brand new SJ200. Traded in for a Martin by a church musician - who swore it was only driven on Sundays. Prior to that I had only 1 guitar - an LG1 - for 40+ years. First brand new J45, when I retired at 65.
You almost got an SJ200, but? What happened?

My EP J200 has been on back order for a long while. I don’t think it’s a Canadian issue.
Yeah L&M have a few EP Doves on back order…It’s been several months now. Trying to get all my NGD’s out of the way before next year for Gibson. Then onto my Gretsch Players Falcon for 2023. It’s good to be rich, but even we have to wait for the “supply” chain issues to resolve themselves apparently..
