Oh, so that's what that big sticker was!   (said with Elvis karate stance)

Yeah. It’s a cheesy sticker. I wouldn’t put it on anything let alone a Gibson. But if it comes with the guitar I expect it to be there…

  2. I think Gibson and all other guitar manufacturers needs to start putting a checklist of items the Guitar comes with. I keep on getting the feeling employees and retailers are lifting case candy from people. My EP Dove came in with specific instructions not to open the shipping box until I arrived and checked everything out. First thing I notice is the box seal was already cut, there were fingerprints on the guitar, a very light scratch (guitar is black so it shows everything) and the “Kenpo Karate” sticker wasn’t there! Call me cynical, but I just don’t trust people who work at guitar retailers!

    Congratulations!

Was it wort the wait? I feel mine was.

Was worth the wait. My serial number was a cool number too had “355” in it (I have 2 355’s so was a perfect sign).

But Gibson didn’t put the “Kenpo Karate” sticker in the case. The dealer is getting Gibson to send it. I thought that was kinda BS. But I don’t trust dealers & their employees much. Always have a feeling they steal/lift case candy and sell them on eBay or Reverb.

Just for reference sake, what did you get with yours? Here’s what I got:

    - EP Dove & Brown USA case (new rectangular latches)

    Case Candy

    • Certificate of Authenticity
    • Inspection Sheet
    • Gibson Microfiber Cloth
    • Truss Rod Tool
    • Optional Strap Pin with Black Cloth Washer
    • Gibson Keychain
    • Humidifier Pack
    • Case Keys

you get the same with the “Kenpo Karate” sticker???

If you're next  Bucket Lister after the Guild is a Gibson -  maybe you should get on the waiting list now !

Guild? When my EP Dove arrives, I’m done with Gibson. I have all the Gibson ones I ever wanted (J-200, Hummingbird, LP, 2 ES-355s). Gretsch Player Series Falcon (Midnight Sapphire) G6136 is my next bucket lister (already ordered) as Fender will be receiving shipments in mid-late June 2023 from Japan.. Then I can say I have all the guitars I need. Including my Fender Strat, Johnny Marr Jag & Tele, and 2 Epiphone Casinos and Riviera. I’m done. But let’s be honest….no one is ever done with buying guitars..

You need to nudge your store. I can go on Gibson.com and buy one in stock.

I saw the SJ200 was in stock, called my store, they called Gibson, I had it a week later.

Got an update today. My guitar should be here on or before April 15…Geez almost a year waiting. Only a few more weeks away…

  6. Good news folks. Just got an update my Elvis Dove is scheduled to arrive no later than April 15. Can’t wait! Finally! Only a few more weeks!

Then I can finally move onto getting my next guitar Gretsch Player Series Falcon (Midnight Sapphire) G6136..

  7. So I asked for an update, still no estimate delivery time. I’m not sure if I should just ride it out in hopes it arrives sometime this year? Or use the funds I already paid to get a Gretsch Falcon Player Series Midnight Sapphire, which is next on my list anyways….Decisions..

seems like a lot of " I cant afford it- they shouldnt make it " from people who already spend thousands on standard models.

I can afford it. The problem is even if you have money they reserve/set them aside to their friends. How the hell did David Beckham’s son get a NG-355 2 months after it was apparently sold out? Hell even for me I had to order months in  advance and no guarantees. Beckham was like oh darn I forgot to get one for my son, Caesar any ones set aside for me????

Or he makes millions in the Fish-whisperer movie and has connections, and for us regular folks who wear an occasional Python Boot, it’s like dropping a 5-er.

Whether or not Momoa bought it or not, the fact that “special” treatment is so out in the open is hilarious. Caesar and Jason are buddies, so not that much of a surprise. I remember hearing Caesar saying in an interview Momoa gifting him a 60’s Hummingbird while visiting his house for dinner…

    I'm sure it was free.

I heard Gibson put 2 in the “vault”. They actually sold 48 Greeny’s. So my guess was Caesar set aside the 2. Now we know Momoa got one (apparently Artist Proof #1), wonder who got the second? Anyways, it’s not really a surprise, Beckham’s son got an NG-355 2 months after they were all “sold out”. Pretty sure Caesar is giving them away free to his friends..

I see the Dove is available, but the 200 isn't. But on Gibsons site it doesn't say only 200 will be made. Some other ones like the Noel and Tom Petty state how many will be made, but not the Elvis ones.

Ya gotta pay to play. We have two things to thank - greed and CV-19. A millionaire CEO's wife and kids gotta eat too.

Waiting for Yorkville (Gibson’s Canadian Distributor) is a pain. My NG-355 got here and it was ordered 3 months later than when I ordered the EP Dove. Yeah you wanna play a Gibson in 2023, it’ll cost at least $500 more for us Canadians…I hate to think how much Gretsch’s have gone up. I want the Players Falcon Midnight Sapphire. It was $4,500 CAD last year, don’t even want to know the up charge on it when I order it next year…

A couple dealers (Sam Ash and GC) are showing them in stock and ready to ship.

I haven't seen anyone with one with the J200 in stock. I think my wait is going to be longer than yours

Based North of the Border here. Been like waiting more than a few months. The guitar’s MSRP went from $5,899.99 CAD when I purchased it to $6,399.99 CAD in a few months. Crazy how much prices have gone up. But in retrospect, a 50’s Standard LP MSRP last year was $2,999.99 CAD, now it’s $3,499.99.

The neck binding does not "wear to a white".  It remains white (while the body binding turns yellow) because the neck binding never got coated in lacquer during the original finishing process.  The yellowing of the body binding is due to the aging of the lacquer that coats it.

Lacquer coating on the neck, so I guess Murphy Lab scrapped it off the neck to keep some white and some yellow..

The internet makes everyone a genius all at once all the time.

The seller knows what they are selling, or they would have it at about $5000 US for one of the 59 355 modern day reissues, or it would be at $15000 US for a real one.  Less than 20 seconds on the internet will tell them this stuff.

The buyer, and there will be one, is so certain that they and they alone have scored an unbelievable wet dream of a guitar buy that they will be an internet genius too, ignore all reasonable and customary consumer thoughtfulness and buy it.  They will be in here in a month moaning about not being sure "what it is I have here", with people like me lol ing out loud at them.

    And so it goes...

Gibson hasn’t made an ES-355TDSV since 1997. And even those were going for approx $10K on the resell market. The closest thing to this model guitar is the 2022 Noel Gallagher 1960 ES-355 (it has the short pickguard and is wired mono) going for $10K USD….But I get what you are saying….the internet makes everyone a genius...Anyways, the pictures are real, can’t speak for the actual guitar (if there is even one), and yes, it is most likely a scam, a fake or a bait and switch ad..

Far too good to be true.

Notice the colour of the neck binding vs the body binding.

Seems far too good to be true. But the neck binding does age and wear to a white. I have the NG-355 and they Murphy Lab’d it the same way…neck binding worn to almost white. Body binding left yellow..I want to check this thing out badly to see in person if it’s legit…The pictures look legit.

Perhaps she screwed up on the price? Either way, if you are a serious buyer you won’t say anything. Though, with the internet these days you have to wonder why she didn’t list it at market price. This should be listed at $18K to $24K USD which is a lot higher than what is listed in £.
