Superb, Ben!  I love this kind of stuff!  Memories of my two grandfathers…..Each carried a pocketknife and could use it for what seemed countless of reasons….and as you say, it was magical.  Thanks for the memories…..and I envy your playing abilities.

    Thanks, Larry.

I've been tinkering with this idea in my head for quite a while. I researched and a few others have touched on it, but never really took my approach. So I finally sat down and wrote it.

Starting in the dominant chord for the verses was a new attack for me, then I funked it up a bit. I'm real happy with the song, if not the recording.

    Your words are very kind.

This one certainly did jog some memories.  While my grandaddy's shotgun sits near the fireplace, the song did make me open the desk drawer in my Dad's old desk where I keep his three pocket knives, Browning folder, and sheaf knife.  Now I feel guilty as the last time I used any of them was in the early-1970s when I worked on a boat conducting an environmental impact study on the Hudson River but have not been taking as good a care of them since then as I should.

Very cool. Just a few drops of oil and you're golden.

I didn’t know about Janka Hardness of woods.. I see why my 21 yr old J-160E may have split & my 48 yr old D-35 didn’t….

I gained new insight about Acoustic Guitars & building Guitars I never gave much thought too…

    I wouldn't fret over it.

I still honestly think it's just the luck of the draw. My J-45 has gigged in all kinds of weather and hundreds of thousands of others have too.

Wood is weird and magic, stronger than steel in some applications, and yet subject to rot, rust, insects and fire.

Hoping it works out well for you, my friend.

I'd say they're priced about right.

    I agree.

These aren't kid's amps, or bedroom/warmup amps. These are built for recording and even light gigging (the 20).

Everything else has doubled in price, hell I almost bought a Mike Holland amp in 1998. The price was 1400 and he offered it to me for 1100.

Now I wish I'd done it, but I was in the studio at the time and money was evaporating.

I really like how their website actually described the product as such.

I've been happy with all things GHS since I started using their strings.

    U.S.A.

Hey, livemusic, where you at in Louisiana? I lived in Lake Charles for over a decade. About 82 to 93/94.
