  1. EBay has a few. Here's one with a Seymour Duncan add on. Genuine 1951 Gibson L-7C Archtop | eBay
  2. Update - it is a cutaway and looks more like an L7C with an add on pickup. I can't find anywhere they offered an electric version of the guitar.
  3. Like Sarge, I think that's an acoustic non cutaway with the pickguard/pickups added. Like KS, I think it may be a 17" L7. I thought the picture I posted above was an L4 but it's an L7 with the bound headstock. The L4 below doesn't have the bound headstock.
  4. Except for the tailpiece and the add-on pickguard with the pickup as mentioned by Sarge, it looks like a Super 300 Another more likely guitar is an L4. Here's one shown on eBay. Gibson L-7 1948 Acoustic Guitar | eBay (bing.com)
  5. You still sound good to me. Guitar sounds good too. I like low action. I usually shoot for .012" thru .022" at the first, .040" thru .060" at the 12th, Neck relief .000"-.003" plus make sure there are no high frets. A couple of the times that I've missed my mark and got too low, it worked very well. That doesn't happen all the time. I've come to like the Custom Light gage strings. Music Villa setup the J45 I recently bought from them based on my preference and it feels and plays great. They put on D'Addario XS Phosphor Bronze Coated. I was so impressed with them, I bought some more and put a set on the '52 J45 and '68 J50 so I can compare them. TBD. I also have to measure everything to see why the new J45 feels so much better than the others.
  6. Most consignment shops with national exposure get 25% eBay rates are below but the gimmick is the buyer pays the cost of item + taxes + shipping then eBay uses that as the total amount to charge a fee. The good thing is after the buyer pays a large shipping fee, eBay gets you a 50-75% discount that you get to keep. 6.35% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item 2.35% on the portion of the sale over $7,500
  7. This is copied from MyLesPaul Forum Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2011 SPECS? | My Les Paul Forum In 2011 there were few models of Traditional, but I guess you're asking about Standard Traditional 2008-2012. - what exact colors where available by 2011 and how where they called? 2008-2012 finishes: LPTDEBCH1 ( Ebony ) LPTDGTCH1 ( Goldtop ) LPTD+HSCH1 ( Heritage Cherry Sunburst ) LPTD+DBCH1 ( Desert Burst ) LPTD+ITCH1 ( Iced Tea ) LPTD+LBCH1 ( Light Burst ) LPTD+WRCH1 ( Wine Red ) LPTD+HBCH1 ( Honey Burst ) LPTD+CBCH1 ( Chicago Blue ) - what pickups would be stock in this guitar? '57 Classic + in bridge position 57 Classic in neck position - what would the fretboard material be made of? East Indian Rosewood? Backed Maple? Granadillo? BRW.... ;) 1 piece rosewood for 2008-2011 2 pieces rosewood for 2012 - is the electronics on a circurit board or old school pots? Electronics is on the metal plate with standard pots, not PCB. - neck profile? '50s - was there a Gibson case included? Yes - black with white interior.
  8. Plus all their fees went up. They are more expensive than eBay. I've just sold guitars on eBay. 7% fee and got a 75% discount on FEDEX shipping. From KY to TX, $24. From KY to CA $44.
  9. Maybe a new guitar will make you feel young 🙂 It will make you feel poorer 🙂
  10. I was in a habit of slapping a Bigsby on every guitar I owned. I bought this to cure it. Works good, sounds genuine.
  11. There's plenty of Custom Sound Hole inserts places. I would go that route.
  12. Don't forget eBay. They only charge 7% commission, give the seller great shipping discounts and will handle international sales. I used to use Reverb, but since they got bought out a few years ago their commission is around 10% and no breaks on the shipping. I quit using them. It's definitely not the same company Chicago Music Exchange set up years ago.
  13. Mean while the swifties are saying, “ Why did they put that horrible ebony one in that line up?” Here's the full line of colors.
  14. That Ebony one is tempting. Aged top, solid back and sides, Gibson shaped head stock, $1299
  15. I can't even name any members of the Dead or Taylor Swift.
  16. I prefer the custom light gage
  17. I have four versions of the Gibson L00. Most comfortable guitar size/style for me. '32 Reissue long scale (like the Legend), all hog, M2M 12 fret aged top, 12 fret Nick Lucas
  18. If the truss nut spun, it may just be the nut. Buy a new one for about $5, clean the threads on the rod (may be full of brass shavings) and give it a shot. If that doesn't work because the rod is stripped, add washers before you put the nut on. The threads may be okay once you get away from the worn area. I've used both of these methods, but I do have a die to clean off the threads.
  19. The luthier I use is in Indiana if you can’t find one. It would be less expensive to ship it to him versus removing the fret board.
  20. Most probably a single action. Older guitars sometimes get the nut seized up or maybe the strings were not loosened as they should be before adjusting on older guitars. They usually break off at the end of the thread, There is a repair where they cobore deeper and chase new threads. It works, I've had it done. Stewmac sells the tools . The luthier I use has the tools to do it. Search - StewMac
  21. Just my opinion and preference - I think the small body Gibson's (LG and L00) need something extra to pull the sound out that I prefer. e.g. Long scale, deep body, thermally aged top, vintage aged wood. The standard stuff sounds okay but I'm getting picky in my old age.
