  1. You could try the Martin Lifespans - they are "treated" and come in that SP / PB configuration. Interestig that a simple bone saddle can result in such a step in tone on so many guitars.
  2. Marty - that is one stunning Gibson. All dressed up for the party - nice bit of flash.
  3. Magnificent musicianship on that 12 string. Nice melody, I wish I knew your language, this sounds quite expressive. [thumbup]
  4. Ompdog - Now that you rate retired I hope you can find some more time to play. Such a fun hobby. Your sig line shows some serious wood.
  5. The more I listen yo this, the more I am captivated. Open tuning? How/what? I have to learn this. I just listened to Mumford's version - I like your performance a lot better.
  6. This is good to hear. Except the scraping off glue part. Funny, I have had the glue holding the velcro for the battery bag fail and cause a rather deep boom that made quite a few folks duck. Have also had glue failure on those little wire clips. Glad you had this success.
  7. Welcome aboard 7. You have your sites set on the iconic J-45. They are such a great and fun instrument. With a decent Les Paul,an original '58 Strat (!) and a j-45 I can't think of any bases not covered.
  8. Both pretty cool. Are you in the hunt for a 12 fretter? Both of these sport rather trimmed down necks from the origonal, looks like. The few Smecks I've played, Ok, just one, had wider necks, though they had been narrowed a bit. I qould have expected the Fellowship clip to be a bit more robust. I'll listen again later thru headphones.
  9. BBP: Great Sunday fun with a 45 ! That guitar has a great sound.
  10. Gordan: On the J-200 I used to have it always did nicely with 12's. John Pearse, Curt Mangan or Martin SP 12's, always Phosphor Bronze. I tried 13's occasionally, but the string tension seemed way too stiff for me.
  11. Hey Double - early Stones acoustic - love just thinking about that, cool. Tx - a d-28 Marquis - nice nice guitar, you'll love hunting down a J-45. Just wanted to say "Hi" and welcome to the Gibson forum, lots of knowledgable folks hang out here.
  12. Welcom Adrian - there are a few of your fellow countrymen on here - its a fun and informative forum.
  13. Canada, eh ? Grew up 140 miles from your border. We used to travel there to play hockey, and we counted it as a "win" if nobody on our team ended up in the hospital...Welcome to the Gibson forum, lots of knowledgeable a nice folks here.
  14. From what we hear - lots of folks are in love with those J-35s ! Let us know if there is somewhere we can go to hear your work.
  15. Photo help - take a photo and email it to dan@smilefierce.com - and I'll post it for you. 12 fret SJ - very desirable guitar.

  17. Andoni in Ireland - a good J-200 is an admirable quest. SJ in Tennesee - Picking up the guitar again at an ideal time, getting snowstorms I hear. The J35 has a lot of fans here. Nice nice nice guitrs. Welcome to the Gibson Acoustic Forums - lots of interesting knowledgable folks here. Not me though, I'm a hack, but I'm a happy hack !
  18. Outstanding Sal ! Remember playing that in Junior High driving girls mad. Great song, nice instrumentation.
  19. Ok, no need for apologies, especially with something this "blow me away" good. Voice, playing, its all very very good. [thumbup]
