  1. So, how are you liking your new Guitar?
  2. Most Online Retailers are pretty good & offer 45 day no hassle Return/Exchange Policies. If you were beyond your 45 days before contacting Gibson or your Retailer it may not be likely. If you're thinking of a different model altogether it's probably not a realistic expectation. That should've been resolved during your Return/Exchange Period.. I had a nightmare experience with Fender Squier VM Jazzmasters. I went thru the Return/Exhange thing with 3 VMJM Guitars.. Over a period of a couple months.. Each one had a major defect that was unacceptable to me... Finally, I gave up & Returned the 3rd one for full Refund.. I ended up spending more on a Fender American Vintage 65 Jazzmaster & it's been a great Guitar.. But, realistically, Time is of the essence with Returns/Exchanges. Still, with your new Guitar comes a new Warranty should you need it.. In any case I wish you the best & hope you get your dream Guitar.
  3. Express to Gibson your expectations.. I did. Both times Gibson exceeded my expectations. The Guitar they replaced mine with was flawless, sounds incredible & was Set up perfectly... 9 years later it's still perfect.. It wasn't some old Guitar they had laying around. Your new replacement will have it's own Warranty.. I will be surprised if you have to use it though...
  4. If I didn't already have a Gibson LP Special with P90's I'd get one. Mahogany Body, Maple Neck & Rosewood Fretboard, $599.00 for a USA Gibson LP with P90 is a Sweet Deal! That rarely happens... If you don't have a Gibson USA LP with P90's you all should seriously think about grabbing one.
  5. Too bad yours can't be repaired but great they will replace it. Tell them what Specs you like & that's what you'd like yours to be replaced with.. Ask them if they will check it out thoroughly & Set it up... Like I said earlier, in my experience, my Guitars came back perfect! They also replaced my Reissue 50th Anniv. Ltd. Edition 1961 Epiphone Casino with Tremotone. It came in perfect condition & perfect Set up... They exceeded my expectations... Night & Day difference between Gibson & another Guitar maker an easy drive right down the road from me in So Cal....
  6. Usually Sellers on Reverb & GBase are knowledgeable & will provide accurate info re; Specs... What Pickups & other Specs are you thinking?
  7. Wait 20 years....... I think you'll be glad you took the extra effort....
  8. Gently, my choice of words could've been better. Even though most probably understood what I meant. If you read my next Post I clarified my use of the word "condition". Meaning, to clean. You say "Conditioning" isn't this or that... Are you an expert? Do you have any Scientific proof of your claim? Can you prove that a Conditioning Product isn't the best thing you can do to care for & preserve Guitar Necks? I didn't think so... I don't think Newbies should misinformed either... I doubt seriously my use of the word Condition would ruin any Newbies Guitar or their life..... My apologies to all for misusing a word...
  9. They seemed pretty good! But, would like to see a USA version. I've gone thru the Asian Guitar period & while they appear to be built pretty well & look pretty for the most part I'm not a fan of their Sound... A few Epi's, Gretsch's & Squier's.. I did the Mod thing a couple times but ended up spending almost as much as what a lightly Used USA version would've cost.. Modding makes very little sense to me now.... I'm very happy with USA built Guitars. Although a couple exceptions are the Terada & Peerless built Guitars. I have a couple of really good ones. I like them almost as much as most USA Guitars. Excellent Build & Sound quality....
  10. Doesn't matter how much you wash your hands they naturally have oil. Oil accumulates on Guitars wherever your hands or arms rest on them. If you don't want to clean them more power to you. Oil build up on fret boards attracts dirt.. Oil & dirt ruin Strings. If you keep your fret board clean Strings last longer. A little lemon oil on your Guitar neck works excellently to keep them clean. Oil from your fore arm will build up on the Body of your Guitars. That can ruin the Finish on Guitars over time. If you don't want to clean that more power to you.. I choose to take better care of my Guitars.. Whether you have 8 or 40. Whether you're a Pro making big Money or a weekend warrior doin the Bar Gigs for peanuts your Guitars are Tools.. I was taught, if you take care of your Tools, your Tools will take care of you.... To each his own....
  11. Then there's the Rickenbacker 325's & 360's like Lennon played... Not a Gibson but very popular 3/4 Guitars...
  12. Both of my Gibson Warranty experiences did take time. In both cases I had 1 Customer Service Rep that I corresponded with via email.. That seemed to keep everything on track.. It did take a while for the Repairs to be done. Definitely not an overnight thing... It could take a couple months.. I hope you have other Guitars to play in the meantime.....
  13. I have a friend who will sit & eat a greasy double Cheese Burger & Jumbo order of Fries. Then pick up his Guitar & start playing.. His Guitars are disgusting & probably disease carriers. I won't touch his Guitars & I don't let him touch my Guitars.. Why would anyone be proud to have dirty, grimy Guitars? My friends Cars look the same as his Guitars. So does his House... By conditioning I mean cleaning & maintaining. I prefer my Guitars & everything I own to always be in like new or better than new condition. Must come from my Military Training... With as many Guitars as I have I generally change Strings on most of them once a year.. My most played Guitars more often..
  14. I use Lemon Oil on my Necks to clean & condition every time I put new Strings on... SOP for me.. If you're going to the trouble of removing old Strings replace them with new.. You'll be glad you did..
  15. Wouldn't that be the ES339? Also available as a Casino Coupe...
  16. Has the OP said anything about the Warranty not being worth the paper it's written on? I've had 2 Warranty jobs done at Gibson Factory.. They were good to work with & both Guitars were repaired & returned better than new.. They exceeded my expectations on both occasions.
  17. Unlike most of the MIC & MIK Casino's the IBJL's, even though they are MIC, have USA Gibson P90's which are the best sounding P90's in the Gibson family.. Also have Switchcraft Switch upgrades.. Even though they are MIC they are extremely good Guitars.. Not quite an Elite or Elitist but close.. A couple other models with same USA Gibson P90 Pickups & Swtchcraft upgrades are the MIC Epi Ltd. Edition 50th Anniv. 1961 Casinos. Some with Tremotone.. Total production of 1961 Guitars. The other is the Gary Clark Jr. Blak n Blu Casino similary equipped but with Bigsby.. All 3 versions aren't available new anymore but are excellent Sounding well made alternatives that are in reach $$$ wise of most Players. I own a couple & my Son in law has the Gary Clark model... Even though I've ordered the new USA Casino I'll keep the others I have as they're really good Guitars...
  18. I've noticed IBJL's are going up too...
  19. My Pedalboard consists of a Boss Tuner, Byrds Janglebox Compressor, TS808, Boss Digital Delay, Boss '64 Fender Reverb & Keeley Double Tracker. I use FX more often with my Fender Amps. Much less or not all with my Vox Amps. Not so sure I agree with the OP's theory. I bought a used Janglebox & it needed to be rebuilt in a year. Almost invested the cost of a new one. A year later it died & I bought a new one. I think the Used one had been used to death by the original owner. I've been using the new one for a few years & it's still like new.. I should've bought new to begin with..
  20. I'd like to see a IBG USA built Wilshire too.. Also an Inspired By Gibson USA Gold ES295 with Bigsby.

    TV?

I watched a lot of Music on YouTube. Or did until a month or so ago. They made some changes that completely ruined it for me. I no longer have all the Tutorials & various genres of Music Video Playlists I've assembled over the past few years. I'm watching YouTube far less now.. I wish there was a way to return it to the old format....
  22. A new Guitar should be without serious flaws.. A twisted Neck is a serious flaw.. A repair couldn't guarantee it won't twist again. Making it an unsatisfactory resolution IMO. It should be replaced with an flawless new Guitar. That's what he paid for. Gibson has always done right by me. I'm sure they will do the right thing.. Larson
  23. Gibson vs Epi. Cadillac vs Chevy comparison. True since the '80's. But that wasn't always the case... There was a time when Epi & Gibson rivaled eachother where they were built, quality of build & price. I think the intent of the new Inspired by Gibson Series is an attempt to return to that time. Odd choice of name for this new Epi Series. Particularly with regard to the new upcoming USA Inspired by Gibson Epi Casino....
  24. I've had to send 2 Guitars back to Gibson for Warranty work a few years ago. One was my 2001 Gibson Bozeman Masterbilt J-160E & the other was my 50th Anniv. 1961 Epiphone Reissue Casino with Tremotone. In both cases the wait was long but well worth it in the end. Both came back as perfect as Guitars can be. Even including the Set up. Luckily I have other Guitars to play while I waited fror ther return.. Hope yours comes back soon & as perfect as mine.. Larson
  25. Like Cars Gibson & Epiphone reserves the right to make changes every model year. Sometimes even sooner. There are so many model variations of Gibsons & Epiphones it's almost impossible to keep up. There are many Books to help. Also the Kelly Blue Book for Guitars helps for those who want to dig deep. From Les Paul to Eric Clapton to Jimmy Page & a whole slew of other Artists there have been creations, cross overs & just about anything imaginable.. All for the sake of keeping us excited about the next new thing or some treasured vintage Guitar to keep us spending our all mighty Dollars..
