Damn, it's been that long!! I flew low over it a couple of years after while in the AF. It was surreal to see the amount of destruction it caused.

If that belonged to my father and he was the one that performed those mods, I would keep it for myself. That just me, I am a sentimental type of guy.

Sweetwater is the way to go.

I believe Eades is correct. The Custom Shop guitars comes with them but not the others. You can call Gibson them selves with the serial number of the guitar and they can confirm. See the link below.

I don’t have many guitars, and this was somewhat of a splurge. My complaints are valid though, right? Or am I just splitting hairs? I waited nearly two hours on hold only to be dismissed and told to send them photos over email to decide if they’ll issue a credit. Is this something I should look past if the price is right? Is that fret actually bad? Or am I overreacting?
Im honestly leaning towards a straight up return at this point.
It may be glue. If that's the case, its there for awhile. I would do a straight up return. It sounds like you work hard for your money, you deserve what you pay for. If you spent 3 large on a guitar, you should expect to pick it up and be happy.

And to anyone who doesn't know what a "good one" is or means, I respectfully suggest they find out before they go guitar shopping. Unless they are buying it just to look at it..
My definition of a "good one" on a brand new guitar is to play good, well built and make me feel warm and fuzzy to look at. If this was a used guitar thing would be different...
Unless I miss something and this is a used guitar.

You are NOT splitting hairs at all, that guitar looks used and abused. That fretboard looks like its been played hard. I do not see why GC will not replace the guitar or issue a refund. If they give you crap, you can file a complaint with your Credit Card company or you start going up the ranks of corprate GC. I THINK THEY WILL WORK WITH YOU before you have to do anything like that.
Keep us posted.

So Bill, how did your upgrade go?
Well I went farther than I said I would. I did the Emerson Harness and that was a huge improvement, volume and tone knob don't act as an on and off switch like the stock pots did. The dongle much smoother. However, the stock pups started nagging me. They broke up too easy on clean channels. So I bit the bullet and purchased some Fralin's. Wow what a difference! I tweaked the intonation and this puppy is on my wall next to the Gibbys.

It all depends on where they went to school and what they majored in. Their GPA will also factor in.

I just bought a 2019 '61 reissue yesterday. No matter what I do, this guitar will not intonate. Truss rod adjustments, bridge height, stopbar height: All still sharp and saddles maxed out. So disheartening. Spending $2500 CAD on a guitar and having to bankroll a tech to hopefully fix this is pretty disengaging. I bought a 2017 Firebird back in 2017 also, used, and in order to not have it buzzing, the action has to be incredibly high. I bought a Les Paul back in 2006 and it played amazingly and had no problems. Fell in love with Gibson. But life happened and I sold it, and since then, guess I've just had bad luck.
Do you hear by ear that the intonation is off? I have come across some bogus tuners. Using those $20 dollar vibration type tuners is not a good idea for setting up a guitar. Some guys even use their smart phones, another bad idea. Try some sort of chromatic tuner. Perhaps try using a different tuner and see if you get different results.

Intonating a guitar is part of a process of stringing and tuning and reliefing and tuning and setting heights and tuning and radiusing and tuning and then intonating and tuning/repeat using a decent tuner.
Damn, all in one breath too.
Sniff sniff, I smell scotch. 🤪

Its tone chasing. Some say it sounds different. That is about it. Joe Bonamassa does it I believe and other too. Just like decking your tailstop.
Ive seen people capo a guitar at lets say the 5th fret and then tie a bandana or rag around the strings above the capo around the 3rd fret. They say it cuts out overtones.
To me between the nut or capo and saddles are all I need to be concerned about. Same as installing different bridge pins on a guitar. Its after the saddle, so does it affect sound? These things will be debated by guitarist till the end of time.
Gibson makes a wrap around bridge/tailstop and that is your only option. I think it is on less expensive models.
If it works for you - do it.
You should see what this person has to say

I can see someone resurrecting one to say "hey I have this issue too, has anybody found a solution in the last 10 years?". Other than that, it is a bit of a bore...

Nut retaining screw
in Gibson USA

I prefer a screw that lets loose a nut. But that's just me.
