I'm only amazed at the idea that there are actually grownass men and women guitar players that think there are crowds of people standing around guitar factories "QC"ing things.  Think of your own companies, your own jobs, the places you've been going for xx years.  Think of the painful, chronic eyerolls you've experienced as you put customers first and blah blah blah and on an on an on.

Guitar company no different.  All of them.

Hey Dub..  Nice work.. Looks good to me.

Something I came across that I thought was quite interesting.  Someone over on another forum built a similar guitar.. The interesting thing that he did though was to buy a see through pickguard and then he stuck a picture of the wood grain underneath (grain matched of course) to vanish the tenon.. It looks slightly odd in one way as we are not used to seeing that.. But a cool idea..

Rabs, when I was in London last year, I entertained the idea of buying one of your guitars. I had no clue on getting it back without all the hassle.

The guitar has been shipped,  was bouncing around in a truck  and subject to different temperatures and humidity. Why would you even think it would be in tune? Most guitars don't stay in tune when you put them in the case for a day or two. I have never even picked up a guitar or bass off the wall of music store that was in tune.   This is completely normal. Tune it and enjoy it.

    I have two others:

One is a 66, the other is a 67. Both of them have a little more punch than the cavern bass and that may be due to the blade pickups. The 66 plays nice, but the 67 is in desperate need of a neck reset and the neck is finished in black. To be honest the Cavern seems to be better made compared to the 66 and 67. But I'm sure age is contributing to some of the kirks in the older Hofners. Funny thing I have never had any issues with off-gassing of my older basses and they live in their respective cases.:-k

That 66 with the blade pickups seems to be calling out to me. The gassing is probably due to the different materials they use in the plastics in those time frames?

There is something to be said about those old mono recordings.

Now where is my buddy JVC to bash my comment and tell me I'm sexist and mean.

Sorry bro, you got yourself to blame on this one. I have to admit I'm disappointed…
