I've never seen guitarists own their guitar more than these two. It's obvious thy've practiced for hours on end and know the neck inside and out. Yet, I bet most people have never heard of them. John Mayer would finish ahead of them in a greatest guitarist poll.

The thing that strikes me, is that they come across so much better live than on their albums.

Yeah. Danny Gatton was incredible. Being from Maryland I used to hear a lot about him, and even knew some people who knew him. Unfortunately I never saw him play live before he tragically took his own life.

Another local guy who allegedly took his own life, and used to play with Danny was the great Roy Buchanan.

Well, they are/were, great players. Danny died too young! Eric's a monster player.

But, then, I've heard monster players that aren't even as famous (or, at all), as they

are. So...???

Me too... and this monster is our local monster. (old video)

In fact, I would go as far as saying he is one of our lesser known Canadian treasures. And he happens to live in my small home town.

And I grew up watching him gig over the years around town.

And we had the opportunity to see him play acoustically in the local luthier's shop(http://www.sawchyn.com/ a couple of weeks ago.

Intimate setting. There were less than 35 tickets.

And we got to sit there for the evening and watch this guy perform for us.

Was a real pleasure. And very cool.
