ParlourMan
The only tangible benefit I can see for them is for some players who are always playing as hard as they can possibly play... apparently a sound port can help these folk calm down a bit as they're getting more sound directed their way with less effort...... Not sure I totally subscribe, but at least I can see how this 'might' work for some people...
mountainpicker
I get pumped just putting in a strap button. Doing this, I'd collapse from hyperventilation.

gov
i had a soundport added to my guitar I use for "somewhere over the rainbow" so the sweet sweet melody would be closer to my heart.
milod
I'd say if it suits somebody, it tickles me plumb to death. Me, I ain't gonna even think seriously about doing it, even on a laminated body. It's not that I'm against figuring new ideas for guitar, for example all my "acoustics" are AE. But I don't understand why one would want this other than to hear perhaps a bit better what one is playing - kinda a stage monitor in an acoustic-only sense. m
J-1854Me
Besides the tonal aspects, I suppose more holes in the guitars means more opportunities to retrieve those annoying picks that fall into guitars through the (primary) soundhole.
