Epiphone LImited Edition ES-335 Pro background?

I have been reading reviews online for a while now about the Gibson 335. Always wanted to have one but sadly I don't ever see myself being in the earning bracket to afford one. So I have turned my research attention to the Epi Limited edition ES-335 pro. From the threads I have read on here, reviews I have found online it sounds like almost all are happy with their purchases from a playing, visual and bang for the buck stand point.

I was originally looking at the Epi Dot's because I love the big body of the 335. Then I accidently ran across on GC the Epiphone Limited edition ES-335 and was very intrigued. I read the other thread on this forum about the differences between the two. But my question is how long does Epiphone plan to make and sell the limited version of this guitar? Basically does Epiphone use the limited edition title as just a way to set one guitar apart over the other features wise, or does it actually mean there will be an limited time to buy them? Just trying to figure out how much longer I have to come up with the money for one.

Also this Limited Edition ES-335's seems to be hard to find. Seems like not all online retailers are selling them? Is there a reason for this or am I just not doing the correct searches? Try to price compare to find the best deal. I would like to find a natural version of these guitars (just prefer that finish better) but they seem to be even harder to find online. I have had no luck finding one local to me to try and play it in person before I buy.

Just curious if anyone on here knows a little back ground behind the Limited Edition ES-335. Looks and sounds like an amazing guitar from the reviews and videos I have seen.

OK , I have 2 Epiphone ES 335's...a "regular" one, and a ES 335 Pro II , as well as a Gibson ES 335. I really like all of them and after playing them am quite pleased with the Epiphone instruments. particularly the "iced tea" pro 2...Why do I like the Epiphone's ? Simply put, Epiphone makes outstanding instruments that are value priced. So, here is a pic with some Casino's (IBJL) and a Genesis too...rock on.

400 bucks isn't bad. I think these may be exclusive to select retailers like GC.

Thanks for the feedback and links. I did already see them available at guitar center and amazon via zzSounds...but noticed places like sweetwater wasn't carrying them and was just curious as to why only epiphone is offering these through certain manufacturers. Also was curious as how long this "limited edition" run will be. Hoping to save the money to get one before they stop producing them.

Just gorgeous guitars, and the reviews I have watched on youtube seems to show just a classic 335 sound comes out them. Hoping to get one very soon. Still looking locally so I can play before I pay. [biggrin]

I wouldn't wait too long.

I believe they started making them in 2012.

They are getting harder and harder to find and, according to Epiphone's website, they are no longer in production:

Grab one while you can.

I got mine in June and absolutely love it.

Thanks for the additional information. See that is what I was worried about...don't want to miss out on this production run. Looks like I will just go ahead and order one to be shipped from guitarcenter. Didn't want to pull out the credit card but looks like I have no choice. [biggrin] Don't want to miss out on getting one of these beauties in the natural finish.

Thanks again everyone!

I just checked at MF. They have it in natural but does not ship until 2/6/15 or thereabouts.

I have it in cherry and I love it! It has hardly been in its case since I bought it.

Yeah I saw that...thanks for the note.

Wonder why they can't shipt it till February if there aren't making them anymore? I would think either you have them in stock or you don't at this point? Guitar Center says end of January? [confused] Not sure what that is all about?

The factory is in China, so perhaps there is another run that will be completed and then shipped to the US. It takes them a while to get over here.

Hi! Zzounds has a Play As You Play program that allowed me to purchase my ES-335 Limited in Iced Tea. I'm a total newbie, and just stumbling along with learning how to keep my fingers off the strings that are supposed to be open, [flapper], but I hope to progress.

Order the case for the guitar, and you can pay in equal installments!

http://www.zzounds.com/ 8 payment deal if over $499.00

Thanks everyone for the additional info. You are all correct there are some new ones still out there currently ready to ship. I made the plunge last night and pulled out the old credit card for a Limited Edition ES-335 in Natural finish. Just love all the exposed wood grain and look of the natural finish. Found one at guitar center and it is currently making its way to me. VERY EXCITED! Will post up some pics when I get it. I have been an acoustic guy for years but have always admired the 335 for its bluesy gritty sound. Making the plunge into electric to go along with my Epi Hummingbird acoustic. Trying to learn blues guitar is my motivation and plan for this new 335. Cant wait!!

Love that Iced Tea finish also.....reminds me of my Hummingbird cherry burst. Love the vintage subburst and cherry as well...heck the ebony is amazing too they all look terrific. Very excited to get this 335 wanted one for so long.

Congratulations! I'm just learning guitar and also have a Yamaha acoustic. Like you, learning blues guitar is what my goal is, and my ES-335 is what I'm using for motivation as I struggle with learning chords, and keeping my fingers from getting in the way of making good sounds. It's pretty difficult right now, but I intend to keep at it until I can play well enough to justify my purchase. Congratulations again!

Thanks again for all the comments everyone!! The Sheraton is a beautiful guitar as well! Haven't held one yet but I wonder how much bigger it is than then 335?

My 335 should be delivered today!! Just got my updated shipping info. Should be playing on it tonight if all goes well. have a new practice amp coming with it as well so I am beyond excited. Excited to hear how great the natural finish looks in person! I love all the the finishes but the natural with all the exposed wood grain just struck a chord with me. Picture will be coming.

Also, question ..... does everyone take the stickers off the back of their guitars? I know when I bought my Hummingbird it came with a few stickers on the back. The epiphone hand set up in USA, the QC sticker, and an made in indonesia sticker as well. I have left them on for now. I am assuming the 335 comes with a collection of decals also. Are people taking these off or leaving them on? Just wondering if doing either will effect the value at all years down the line? Or if you want to take them off years down the line will the wood be a different color underneath since it hasn't been exposed to light for a long period of time? Just curious on peoples thoughts.

I always take mine off. I just like the look of a clean guitar. Not sure about the value. I would think if everything was left intact and in the case and never played, then value may stay intact somewhat, but you're usually not going to get you're money back out of an Epiphone. I love them and think they're great instruments, but you just don't get you're money back. I would think the stickers would discolor the wood over time. I can say for sure that I had an Alvarez that had a gloss finish that I put a pick guard on and then removed after about 3 months and you could see an outline of the guard. It's a little different scenario, but worth consideration. Enjoy you're new guitar and amp! Rock on!

Thanks for the feedback. Makes sense...its not like I am not going to have this guitar out playing it all the time so it will get wear and tear. Now like you said if I was going to mothball it would make sense to keep all the original decals on it.

Also just makes sense in my mind that wood exposed to light over time versus wood not exposed to light would be of a different shade after. Interesting hearing about your pickguard scenario.

Wow....received my LTd ES-335 last night and I am VERY impressed with the quality of this guitar. So excited to finally have one of these to play and learn rock and blues on. The sound it produces is exactly what I was hoping for. Has that warm, vintage, mellow, smooth sound I have been longing for. Was playing with the controls and tones last night and I have to admit I do enjoy the coil split functionality of the pickups as well. When activated seems to create more of a thinner edgy sound to really give you a wide range of selection on what you get out of this beautiful guitar. I wasn't sure how I would like the "D" style neck since I have been used to "C" style necks but I have to admit, I think I enjoy the D neck better. Only time will tell. It's early but I am really enjoying the playability of this 335. The action is low and tight but not too low that there are no buzzing or dead spots. Setup very well. All I had to do was tune it and go. Can't wait to play more with the tones as I learn what it can do.

As far as the appearance, I don't have to tell anyone here how beautiful these guitars are. I am just head over heals happy with the Natural finish. To see all the beautiful wood grain and still have a beautiful sheen to the body with the seal coat on top just inspires one to one to pick up and play it. The bound neck and body just look amazing. The inlays, chrome, and body are all in perfect shape with no chips, scratches or dings. Amazing build quality I am super impressed. I have heard some are not a fan of the vintage style tuners, but I love them. Remind me of my fathers old Gibson LG1. The guitar came shipped from GC wrapped in so much bubble wrap it took over 5 minutes to get all the bubble wrap off they did a great job of getting it to my doorstep safely. I feel truly fortunate. I have had guitars show up damaged in the past due to events during shipping and that is no fun trust me.

In closing I am just starting my journey with this beauty (the attached picture does not do this thing justice...lighting is horrible) but this will be a guitar I will have for a loooooooong time. Even though it came set up great from the factory, once these first set of strings wear out I will be taking it into the local guitar shop for a pro setup and am upgraded set of strings. But until then, it is just fine for my liking. Cant wait to get home to put more time in on this beauty this weekend.
