Smurfbird Posted December 12, 2014 Share Posted December 12, 2014 I just called my local music shop to hear how things were going with the 2004 Gibson Southern Jumbo I'd given them to sell. It turns out it just sold to the movie company making the Hank Williams bio-pic "I Saw The Light" with Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams and Elizabeth Olsen as Audrey Williams. They've got to alter the guitar somewhat in order to make it look period correct, but my guitar's mint quality made it a good candidate for a "new" guitar back in Hank's day (1947-53). Be sure to look for it on the silver screen. The movie is based on Colin Escott's excellent Hank Williams bio, so maybe the movie will be pretty good! Rambler Posted December 13, 2014 Share Posted December 13, 2014 The movie is based on Colin Escott's excellent Hank Williams bio, so maybe the movie will be pretty good! That is an excellent bio. Highly recommended. It's pretty uncompromising -- not only about Hank but the music biz. Hope the productiont team sticks to its spirit rather than going off on the dramatic highlights.
