bayoubengal1954
fp- First I switched out the Keystone tuners with white Gotoh Butterbeans (they didn't have the cream colored) because it was a direct swap with no extra drilling of holes. Then I had to change out the white buttons for cream and I found these buttons at Stew Mac:http://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Tuning_Machines/Tuner_Parts/Vintage-style_Tuner_Knobs.html It needs to be item #0111 for the Gotohs because the hole has to be rectangular, not round. It could be a different case if you get a different brand of tuning machines. Then I took it to my guitar guy and he used the heat from a soldering iron to slip off the old white ones and attach the new creams. He did say the holes in the creams were a little larger than the whites so he used super glue to fill in the gap and then popped them on and let it cool and set. He charged me $25, but I'm not that handy so it was worth it to me to pay. I like the look. The creams are a little more slender than the whites but I'm fine with that. j45nick
Here's what the white oval buttons on a set of Kluson tuners in good condition should look like after 45+ years. These are originals from 1968.
