bulletfinger
Bulletfinger needs some input from the resident gearheads. In the market for a LP Standard. Any year models that I should avoid. Not looking for a collectible, it will get played regularly.

SRV-Zeppelin
Avoid anything from 1956-1960... unless you've got a couple hundred thousand dollars to spare. Other than that you should be good.

harmonicchaos
Thanks all! Had to ask. As mentioned in my intro to the forums a few days ago' date=' I have many questions but no answers.[/quote'] no problem, play what ya like... buy what feels right to you. Aren't too many dogs with Gibson (at least i haven't personally experienced too many) but there are some that are just right for certain people. I think even the ones that've been playing for longer than i've be alive still have questions from time to time... welcome to the forums!
Riffster
Hey bullet, they have this one at Nashville Used Music, it has stand damage. It looks like the owner used a stand with rubber not safe for nitrocellulose. The starting bid on eBay is low but I am not sure how much they want at the store, I saw it there but I do not remember the asking price. The advantage on this one is that you would get to play it and decide if you like it. Also, I do not remember what pickups came with Standards before they installed Burstbucker Pros. http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-Gibson-Les-Paul-Standard-W-ORG-Case_W0QQitemZ350154424029QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item350154424029&_trksid=p4011.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
