Back at the end of February, I bought a set of P-Rails and Triple shot mounting rings from StRanger7032 over in the trading post. It was a great bargain and he was fantastic to deal with.

So I had no time until a week ago to install them. Here are the results!

NOTE: i went ahead and removed the tone knob. i don't even need it with the this setup. the thing you see in its place is and old car/boat/idk push/pull switch i found somewhere at sometime and it is now a kill switch.

Thanks for the kind words! I was curious to see what those would end up in. Looks like the proper flat top for them. They sat at a serious angle on my SG and I could never quite get the sound to balance right. Glad to hear they worked out well for you. The Phat Cats are a much better fit for the SG body, so all's good on my end too!

Congratulations!

I am so curious about these pickups, ever since they got released. Great concept. I like the Triple Shot rings too, very smart idea!

Enjoy it with good health!

Cheers... Bence

looks good! there is a slight angle on this guitar but not as steep as a gibson so it works. [biggrin]

they are a lot of fun! this guitar has been hanging on a wall for a while now because the stock pups were just mush. these additions have made me play it more frequently. its good because its a fantastic guitar and i definitely missed it.

only one minor issue and it seems to be a common one. the rings were very very slightly too small width-wise. luckily when the screws were put in, it all sort of stretched into place. no big deal but i did have a "oh crap" moment [laugh]

I guess, it's because they are flat pickup surrounds (universal fit), opposed to Gibson's arched ones.

But, You managed it well...

One thing I wonder about, will someone make custom pickup covers for them? :-k

I had my custom made Parker DF522NN (NN=Notes Norton) model done with P-Rails and triple shots.

I love them. 4 different tones:

  1. P90
  2. Rail
  3. Series Humbucker
  4. Parallel Humbucker

The P90 sound very good, a little more bite at the high end than the P90s on my ES-330 or Casino.

The Rails sound very Fender-ish, and if you use both pups in the rail mode, you get pretty close to the Strat with pups 1&2 engaged.

One humbucker mode sounds pretty PAF-ish and the other thinner like a mini-humbucker.

My Parker also has a piezo under the bridge, and blending that with the P90 will produce a good-enough to fool the audience Tele sound.

It's now my only gigging guitar, because I get everything I need with one guitar. And since I pack a sax, two wind synths, a flute, a MIDI controller and a guitar to the gig, the last thing I want to do is bring another guitar.

They are the "Swiss Army Knives" of pickups, and the tones are very good for a multi-purpose pickup. In other words, "I love 'em".
