Californiaman
Just thought I'd introduce you to Joanne Shaw Taylor. Check it out. This is one very talented young woman. I for one look forward to hearing more from her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsnasO8pt_Y&feature=related and then there's this: and finally: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvHA-dY0K-o&feature=related She's certainly got a handle on the blues. BIGBENDS
That sure was enjoyable. She's good. Joanne Shaw? Never heard of her before now, but I have a feeling it won't be the last time.

Guitar slinger
I have seen her before. Great player, but she can't sing the blues IMHO.
Californiaman
She may not be able to sing the blues, but she's certainly got her licks down.
Guitar slinger
Not only she got her licks down as she gets TONE out of the guitar. I don't know how you guys call it, but we call "pegada" (translates like, grip, grabbing or something) the way the player pick, bend, vibrato, legato, dirty, sloppy, clean... I don't know. What's the name for that, guys? I'll show you a example: Les Paul (the player) has his "pegada". Clapton's "pegada" is entirely different. And so does SRV. Then if Les Paul plays a song with a given rig and SRV plays the same song with the same licks and it sounds different (yeah, it will) we say that their "pegadas" were different. Do you guys can understand what I'm saying?? But I think her bends are a bit off... or it's just me?
Californiaman
I got you Guitar Slinger. Yeah, that is why playing guitar is different for everybody. I believe it's a person's soul expressing itself through our fingers, intensity of how we hit the strings, the vibrato, legato, bends and everything else you mentioned. That's good. Pegada. Thanks man.
djroge1
She is good. Perhaps others don't want to reply because she plays better? Just a thought....
Californiaman
Plays better than they do? Oh, yeah. That's it. They're jealous! She plays better than they do and they can't stand it. They're afraid to admit it.
