JonBrown
hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I have a Gibson J45adj and I was tying to figure out what year it was made in? the serial number is 329589. thanks. I'll try to post pics soon
j45nick
Probably either 1965 or 1967. A picture might help, but the J-45 in those years generally looks like the same animal. If the nut width is 1 11/16", it is probably 1965. If it is 1 9/16", it could be either one.

Go to the "Forum Feedback" section, and review the "how to post photos" thread. Basically, you need to use a free external photo hosting site like photobucket, and copy and past from that to this forum. It may sound complicated, but it really isn't. Even a geezer like me can do it.

cunningham26
hmm might need another pick from the front- is it cherry sunburst? that would be more mid-60s, vintage sunburst came back towards the end. great guitars, i have a 68. swapped the rosewood bridge for a bone one (yours might have ceramic) but both sounded great. enjoy! j45nick
A shot of the back of the headstock might be useful, to determine if the tuners with chrome buttons are original. Measure the nut width, and verify whether it is 1 9/16" or 1 11/16". It looks narrow to me from the photos. It also looks like a nicely-faded cherryburst. My initial reaction is that 1965 seems reasonable, in the absence of other evidence to the contrary.

j45nick
I've seen those funky tuners before, but someone here probably knows more about them than me.
bobouz
I've seen those funky tuners before, but someone here probably knows more about them than me. Those Asian tuners were used for a period of time in 1967. I've seen them on both Gibsons & Epis from that year.
fortyearspickn
Beautiful guitar - appears to have been built in Kzoo before Gibson went south for a few years. How does she sound? Play?
