Looking forward
I bought a riviera p93 a couple of months ago, and, at the time, I was okay with the bigsby. But now I have some serious intonation problems and want to get rid of it. Thoughts?

Matt4356
I bought a riviera p93 a couple of months ago, and, at the time, I was okay with the bigsby. But now I have some serious intonation problems and want to get rid of it. Thoughts? How is the bigsby affecting intonation? Intonation is the length betwewn the nut and the bridge saddles. As a guess is it the g string causing a problem? Try turning any saddles around to get more travel or upgrade to a bridge with more movement, i have a gotoh bridge on my dot for this reason. If you want to change tail try either a trapeze like on a casino or a frequensator like on a reissue sherataon!
kidblast
the intonation problem has very little to do with tailpiece or the bigsby. are you checking intonation with new strings? have you changed your string gauge or adjusted your action recently? Looking forward
By intonation problems I mean problems with the guitar coming back in tune after using the bigsby
Matt4356
By intonation problems I mean problems with the guitar coming back in tune after using the bigsby Its the nut, possibly bridge or strings thats your problem. Take it to a tech! There are millions of bigsby'd guits out there. There wouldnt be if they caused tuning problems out of nothing, a good setup will sort it out. kidblast
Right, this is not an intonation problem at all. you could try lubing up the witness points (places where your strings make contact with anything.) Start out with the nut and saddles, you can also put some lube on the roller bar where the strings ride under as they go to the bridge. There are a few things you can buy that are intended for this use, one product that is very good is Big Bends Nutsauce. If you wish to try an easy home remedy, using a tooth pick, spread a little Vaseline in those places where stings make contact. (nut slots, and slots in the sting saddle) See if that helps. I've got four guitars fitted with a bigsby, keeping things properly lubed, with reasonably fresh strings, (and using the bigsby for it's intended use, Subtle, no dive bombs) and I don't have any problems. Pesh
+1; it's most likely something is getting caught at the bridge or nut, like Matt said. Or crappy / old / crappy-old strings. Tech will be able to sort it.
burchster
If you want rid of it buy an aftermarket frequensator and put on it. If you don't like that just put a regular trapeze tailpiece on it.

357bullfrog
I know this is an old post and I hope by now you've got it straitend out but if not try this... Bricksbigsfix.com. And Bill Bricks up in Ankorage AK makes a roller replacement for any bigsby . I got one on my Epiphone riviera p93 and it cured the tuning stability. He makes em both chrome and gold or brass rather but 71.00 to my door wasn't bad cause I was getting ready to send it back and get another fender . Hope this helps
Alan189
For me, I had tuning stability issues with the Bigsby B70 on there. I already have another guitar with a bigsby B7 so I decided to take the B70 off and put a frequensator on. Although you can see the Bigsby screw holes, these have now faded and are barely visible now. I am happy with the result and have no tuning issues at all. I think it looks great too. The wine red colour is stunning and gold hardware compliments it.
