phil325
but it's ok for me to take a screwdriver and achieve the zig zag pattern for sh!ts and giggles though right? i'm fine with the horizontal pattern but if what you say that having zig zag is better, why not try it out? sangemon
I've got a new Traditional. The screws line up horizontally - - - - - - , and the setup is good. FWIW.
BlackHawk233
mine are relativlely ------, but the Bridge Low E is - plus a little down turned like this same with Top E but its /. So if i adjust this correctly will it sound better?
Dynadude
In all seriousness, I've tried every adjustment method possible with pole screws, and never noticed any significant difference, or I should say, so little that it was not a discernible difference. It is possible to compensate for a string that is coming through weak, by raising that pole piece, but as far as patterns and all that, I call BS. phil325
agreed. i'm keeping it horizontal unless someone has devastating proof of improvement for turning screws
pippy
Since the screwdriver slot in a polepiece means that metal was removed' date=' zig-zagged polepieces place more metal under each string than a polepiece adjusted with the slot going in line with the strings."Cat Daddy[/quote'] I've read the same story from several different sources. Usually they also claimed 90 deg was as bad as parallel. It is said that the null points have less influence therefore creating more consistency of output. Mine were exactly 45 deg +/- but I haven't felt the need to see what difference there would be were they altered.
