Miguello
Just ran across one of these at GC, while looking at the used gear. I don't think it was a Sorrento reissue? It was only slightly larger than a Les Paul, had the old school style headstock logo, like a metal plate that was upside down triangle shaped. Two F-holes, semi hollow, no bigsby style vibrato. It was priced at $300, so it wasn't anything super expensive to begin with. It was a burst finish with a flame maple veneer. Just wondering what it was I saw? jdgm
Maybe some sort of Epiphone Wildkat? http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Archtop/Ltd-Ed-Wildkat-Studio.aspx
Sleeko
That's what I was thinking as well.
Parabar
I don't think there's ever been a WildKat with a burst finish. Maybe an AlleyKat?
Dennis G
Maybe an AlleyKat? Given the OP's description, and the price range, I was thinking the same thing, not that I know WTF I'm talking about most of the time LOL.

Dennis G
Interesting pup and knob arrangement. Very "Gretschy" if you will...
Parabar
Yep, but sounds nothing like any Gretsch yet made.
Miguello
I cannot seem to find one online with the same color scheme though. It was was kind of a yellow to goldenrod burst, with a flame top. I guess that's what it was.
Miguello
Maybe it was a Florentine, with a different headstock treatment. I also don't remember it having two sizes of humbuckers, so it's possible? http://media.guitarcenter.com/is/image/MMGS7/Les-Paul-Standard-Florentine-PRO-Hollowbody-Electric-Guitar-Honey-Burst/J07382000001000-00-500x500.jpg
bobouz
I had an Alleykat, and the mini-humbucker was quite nice. Very comfortable size & playability, similar to an ES-339 (it actually fit perfectly in my Gibson ES-339's case). There was also a Flamekat: -Two minihumbuckers -Bigsby tailpiece -Black w/flame decal on top -Dice inlays & knobs Both of these models shared the Wildkat body, which is still in production. And speaking of the Wildkat (with P90s), there's a lower priced version without the Bigsby, and it's a current model. It would be unusual to already see a used one for sale, but maybe that's the guitar the OP is trying to identify.
