jedzep
Thanks for that. One of my top three 'I wanna play like him' guitarists.
BigKahune
. Nice Doug. Think I'll take out my jazz box and noodle some time away. . B) .
sbpark
I always like watching this right hand and how he effortlessly switches back and forth from fingerpicking/strumming with his thumb and using the pick.

I keep practicing this but can never get it.
jedzep
Stray Cat becomes old cat. I'd kill to have jazz/swing chops. This clip reminds me of my college days when a few of us would chase after The Central Park Sheiks with the great Richard Lieberson and Bert Lee. Here's Richards last vid and a link to the band, if anyone has interest. I'm wondering if any forum members from the NYC/upstate NY area have ever seen these guys. https://archive.org/details/cps74-05-xx-AUD.fob/cps74-05-xxd1t01.flac
ksdaddy
My latest archtop is a Heritage Super Eagle, Heritage's version of the Super 400. I still can't get that big tone. Not giving up though. But it is frustrating.
Martin 1940D28
K S, The Heritage is as good as a modern L 5, you need the same "sound engineer" used in the recording. Electronics are magical!
ksdaddy
Part of the problem is not being able to play it and sit ten feet in front of it at the same time.
drathbun
Part of the problem is not being able to play it and sit ten feet in front of it at the same time. Sit on a stool and face the guitar directly into a corner about 6' away. With the 45 degree angles facing you, that is the best way to "almost" hear what others will hear while you're playing.
