Dennis G
Thanks for posting that. As a former F2000 racer and Z06 owner, I really enjoyed it. Couple of comments though: 1) Our European brothers are far more adept at letting the faster car by (I've raced in multi class endurance races, so I know). 2) The guys on bikes are just f'ing nuts being on the track with cars at the same time and, 3) How in the hell do you learn that track? LOL
Hawkesman
Wow! He hit 229 MPH at one point. All from a 2 litre 4 potter (with a few bells and whistles, of course)!

Hawkesman
Years ago I remember Clarkson going round there in a Jag S-Type. Diesel I think. Then a local lady racer, who knew the track well, got in the Jag and blew the socks off his time.

Black Dog
On board camera: Wow, thanks for that! That is the video I intended to link. Sorry for the one in the OP, It must have rolled over to the next video before I copied the link. Anyway, it's the on board video that is so awesome. pippy
Years ago I remember Clarkson going round there in a Jag S-Type. Diesel I think. Then a local lady racer, who knew the track well, got in the Jag and blew the socks off his time. Actually Sabine Schmitz didn't quite beat Clarkson's time. He posted 09:59 and she went round in 10:23. What WAS impressive, however, was that she didn't drive the Jag; she did it in a bone-stock Ford Transit van... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KiC03_wVjc In an attempt to lower the time they subsequently removed everything unnecessary from the van and she got within 9 seconds on Clarkson's time. Hawkesman
Pip - Yeah, I remember that too, but this is what I was referring to... In December 2004, Schmitz gained recognition in the United Kingdom after appearing in the BBC television show Top Gear with presenter Jeremy Clarkson. After Clarkson (under her tutelage) set a lap time of 9 minutes 59 seconds around the Nürburgring in a Jaguar S-Type diesel (Season 5, Episode 5), she castigated his best lap with the comment "I tell you something, I do that lap time in a van". She did a lap in the Jaguar S-Type, and set a time of 9 minutes 12 seconds, beating him by 47 seconds. When trying to film Schmitz as she drove the S-Type, the film team were unable to keep up so used Jaguar test driver Wolfgang Schubauer to drive theJaguar S-Type R chase car, meaning that much of the lap shown on the episode was not the the 9 min. 12 sec. lap time. http://www.jaguarfor...top-gear-79583/ http://www.motoringb...es-5-episode-5/ H. pippy
Pip - Yeah, I remember that too, but this is what I was referring to... Ah! Apologies for my mistake, Hawkesman! For some reason I didn't see the one where she drove the S-Type at the time............ Pip.
Hawkesman
Pip - no apologies necessary. They were both occasions worthy of note by any proper petrol-head! H.
Retired
Nice video, I used to drag race on the quarter mile and a 1/8 mile track. Loved racing and still do. That was back in the 70's though in Pro Gas.
