rbpicker
How is the width and string spacing at the nut, Sal?. I’ve come close buying a cedar topped Tak a couple times in the past, but was always put off by the tiny feeling neck. Roger

blindboygrunt
Yeah my takamine had a fairly big neck on it Nothing massive , but certainly fuller than my gibsons or martins Edited August 30, 2018 by blindboygrunt
frenchie1281734003
Didn't the 72-75 Gibson J-100 reissue's have Cedar tops? I have three acoustic guitars with Cedar soundboards, A Daion 78 Heritage, a Daion 82 Jumbo, and a recently acquired Stanford PSOM-10 cutaway. I like the all. E-minor7
Time to remember several of J. Taylor's Olsons have cedar on rose. Think this is one of them. Film from 2015 - guitar from approx 1990 ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXj9DcjjWZE I'm thinking a cedar top J45 would be incredibly warm. It probably would and it sounds tempting. Then again we must underline there is a point beyond which things can get too melting mellow (in my ears'n'hands anyway). But we won't know the 45-version before it's heard. And maybe that experiment was done in Bozeman already. Hmmm, not sure - Gibson isn't really cedar-minded, is it. . 62burst
Sal is not the only one who can say the same say from one year to the next- mine is almost word-for-word in this 2018 thread. Even though they are talking about classical guitars in this link shared by J45Nick in the hybrid picking thread https://www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/cedar-vs-spruce-tops-classical-guitar/, there are some good contributions by forum members here on the Gib forum that line up with much of what the nylon strung/non cross-braced guitar builders and players say about cedar vs spruce topped guitars.
