LP Supreme Case

Just recieved new LP Supreme from MF, and I question why the body of guitar only touches the inside of case at the very bottom of lower bout and at the neck, (the majority of the body is suspended in air). Is this case built incorrectly, maybe the neck support is to high or inside lower body section to deep? I would think this could be bad for the neck. Anyone else seen this issue? http://s730.photobucket.com/albums/ww304/Shawnps

OK, that made me want to go and check mine ;)

Doesn't sound right. Mine is supported at the back and front of the body and in two places along the neck. The guitar sits flat in the case.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Supreme! How 'bout some pics for us to oogle over?

Ok put pics of back at photobucket. Original post has link. The case is not completly flat' date=' there is a ramp about half way up bout area with about a 1 inch rise, however that of course will not contour to the carved back. Hmmm.[/quote']

Oh man... that's a pretty backside.

...yes, the bottom of the regular LP case has a ramp, but it's made for a flat back, not a carved 'fiddle' back like yours. I'm not sure if anyone makes a case especially for that shape. Maybe someone here knows.

What do you reckon to the sound, there is not much Supreme love on this forum, some say it sounds like a semi-hollow body...utter rubbish of course!

What about the weight, not bad for a chambered guitar as the carved maple back brings it over the scales of a usual chambered Les Paul?

I'll bet you love the sound, creamy smooth on the neck pickup with the tone backed of, more sustain than a normal Les Paul due to the highly resonant body, plenty of rock all around. Not to be hung on a wall and looked at some seem to think.

I really can't see the need to remove/change the pickups as they really are the business on this superb high-end Les Paul.

Well done on your purchase.

Thanks everyone' date=' I guess its allright since the carved back does probally touch in the center just not at the top bout edges. But I did send a question to gibson support about it, will see if they respond.[/quote']

Fold up your cleaning cloth or strap and stuff it under. Should provide a little more support.

Got a reply from gibby. Hello,

Thanks for writing!! The Les Paul Supreme comes with its own unique case. The case should have shipped with the guitar from the factory, so it should be the correct case, and yes, the carved back probably will not sit flush in the case--this is not a problem.

I am very happy with the sound, and yes the neck pickup is creamy, i wont be changing anything, and no it will not be hanging on a wall. I have a studio vintage mohagany w/Burst 1 and 2 when I want to squeal, but I prefer less bite and more smootheness and growl with this baby.

It is great to meet somebody who actually owns a Supreme and knows how wonderful they are.

I have added black knobs and a black/gold pickup ring selector as I feel it really compliments the black pickup surrounds and cherry burst finish.
