Y'all might be surprised to learn that I *don't* fall on the socialist axis. I'm somewhere out in the middle left of the lower left quadrant--halway between authoritarian and socialist and VERY far on the liberal/social side. The public figure most closely aligned with me was the Dalai Lama. I'll take that. :-

Wow KSG. I think I could have saved you the trouble and just posted your results.

Why don't you move to Eastern Kentucky and see how lack of government regulations over the last 8 years have allowed the coal industries to dump sludge into all the local water streams.

You'd like it there. All that rampant capitalism in action. First they destroyed all the unions and then they cut the pay of everyone by 2/3s or more. Then they started importing foreign workers for the mines.

This in a state that actually fought the largest battle(1920 Red-Neck war; Battle of Blare Mtn.) in our country's history over unionization. Hundreds died and that historic point is lost on most of our nations youth.

You just keep that political spectrum. Our nation needs a few more like you.

Actually, Blair Mtn was in West Va., but it's near the Ky border.

I've seen several people say that unions are no longer necessary because of laws passed by Congress, but all you have to do is look at the lack of protection for coal miners and see that those laws don't mean much. MSHA does little to nothing to actually ensure mine safety. Mining companies do not see any need to actually spend the money on improving safety because nobody's checking on it anyway. And you end up with miners dying--either quickly in cave-ins or slowly from Black Lung.

And in 2004, new law went into effect that eliminated the need to pay overtime for work beyond 40 hrs a week for *most* employers. So much for those laws protecting workers....
