Murph
I had the 339 on the desk, restringing for tomorrow night/Sat night, and my daughter is dinking around on the keys. She hits a few things that reminds me of "Lazy"..... I know he retired a few years ago, but 2 of my favorite "albums" as Neo (and I) still call em'..... are. Machinehead. Purpendicular. Here's to ya Jon... Drinks on me..... Murph.

NeoConMan
What? A Deep Purple post without mentioning Ritchie Blackmore? BLASPHEMY!!! What a killer band they were.... Anybody who runs the keyboard through a Marshall is okay with me!

Californiaman
I remember learning Space Truckin' on bass when I was first starting out as a musician. My version was a little more funkier (especially the solo) than Roger Glover's version. Such a great band.
Murph
Such a great band. Ian Gillian has to be one of the greatist vocalist of all time too. I read once, years ago, his range was beyond most..... I forgot the details.....
Californiaman
I was fortunate enough to see the Perfect Strangers Tour with the original line-up. I'll never forget that as long as I live. That was a religious experience. So good. So gosh darn good.

NeoConMan
A good friend of mine saw it too. Same opinion. Said it was LOUD. Sounded good, but LOUD.
Mr. Robot
I saw that tour in Australia. I was right up the front, against the stage, as you could still do in those days. But geez, permanent hearing damage. I am sure it was that gig that did it. My ears were ringing for two days. Gillan refused to do any Coverdale material, so Blackmore stuck it up him by throwing in the riff to Burn during a jam in the middle of the gig. he he. Got it on a bootleg somewhere.
