NeoConMan
Yeah, where I come from we called that a Figure 8. First mistake 95% of the people make when rolling up a cord, hose, whatever, is that they use tiny little loops. Congrats, you've just tied that sh!t in a knot for the next person who tries to unwind it and figure out what the hell you did to it. Use bigger loops, double the size the guy in the video uses; saves lotsa hassles no matter what your style. To keep it simple enough everybody can understand it; When playing, I actually lay the cable on the floor in a Figure 8 with all the excess cable simply stacked in loops. If I walk out farther, another loop or two of cable simply slides off the top without twisting. Same with a 100 foot garden hose, when I roll it up I leave it stretched out straight and drag it to me so it can untwist as needed. I make a big Figure 8 pattern - essentially two loops side by side - and there are no kinks. It stays on the ground like that, hidden from view. When you need the hose, simply grab the end and start walking. No kinks. (Why do women have no capacity to understand this concept?) Who needs the bullsh!t plastic hose hanger bolted to the fence or side of the house?

tazzboy
Get shorter cables for playing in the basement and use the longer ones when you are gigging.

NeoConMan
Old rigging technique. Yep. And if you've ever fought a fire, you'll never tolerate twisted sh!t again. Like Guitarest, I even straighten out other people's phone cords.
