EVOL!
It's the old question about head vs speaker resistance. My friend needs a cab for his head so we can jam out Saturday. I have an old 1x12 with an 8 ohm speaker. Not sure the resistance on his head, but he should be OK if it is 8 ohms or less, correct?
brundaddy
As long as you put plenty of pennies in the fusebox you'll be a-ok. ;)
mcmurray
Pretty much all heads have an 8 ohm output. Just look at the back panel before you plug it in.
EVOL!
It's an old Ampeg tube bass head. Not sure what model though. My friend swears the out is 8 ohms. If he's wrong it's his head, not mine.
EVOL!
As long as you put plenty of pennies in the fusebox you'll be a-ok. :- Nice. Going old school. Hell, my built in 1921 house doesn't even have those old fuses anymore.
jefleppard
as long as the rating for the speaker is greater than the rating on the amp - you're OK. eg - a 16 ohm speaker into an 8 ohm jack is fine but the other way around can cause some tube overheating etc.. that's the way i've had it explained to me. And that is the way it is. The only sideffect you may have is thinner sound.
Californiaman
Ohms is no longer a part of this forum. After many warnings by the mods, a couple of bans, Ohms was black balled from the Gibson Forums.
