KCW1229
ON the GIbson site for the LP standard its said it uses burstbucker pro pickups, so i clicked on it and it says it comes in german nickel plated or 24ct gold plated. Do they really use 24ct gold>>??? just kind of interested replies please ^^ thanks bye
Stewie
I have the Elitist Les Paul Custom and they claim to be 24K gold plated as well. This will keep them shiny for many years longer than the reglular goldtone that most use. Mine haven't changed a bit in 2 years.

And if you bought them when Gold was merely $300 an ounce, you'd have some extra worth in your Les Paul these days...
NeoConMan
Electroplating is microscopically thin. Don't get TOO excited.... Stewie is right about one thing, 24k gold is highly resistant to tarnish. Most pseudo-gold plating looks like sh!t in a couple years. Every old Les Paul I've ever seen with gold hardware did not age very well... My SG 12 string was made in 1995 and the gold looks kinda blah.... BurstBucker Pro kicks ***. I have them in my Les Paul Classic Plus.

Archer993
Go for the GOLD. I have a 22 year old Schecter Saturn with gold plated hardware that looks better than my 2001 LP Custom.
ibis
Generally I find chrome plated lasts longest, Gold the next but looks yuk when faded, then nickel wears the fastest but looks cool in a yuk way. My body chemistry seems to hate everything apart from chrome.
