I feel your pain. But' date=' these things can and do happen to the best of us. Can you get it fixed? Or, is there a chance you can buy a similar acoustic or treat yourself to a better one?[/quote']

i would but its a guitar my grandpa gave me so i'd rather just buy a new nut.

Dropping an acoustic guitar while playing/recording it and breaking the nut?

Could you go into details and explain the physics of the incident? I cannot even picture it a scenario on how this happened in my mind.

I just got a bone nut installed in my Epiphone Casino and it makes difference to have a well cut nut in there so you may end up with a better sounding guitar depending on what nut you had before.

well ihad to blame it on someting other than myself

Is this the next dem00n? [blink]

Just kidding man, I feel your pain. I have never dropped a guitar, but I have seen people do it.

I too don't exactly understand how the nut broke when you dropped it though. Pictures would probably help

well i was playing, then i stopped to change some stuff with the recording software, so to do that i put the guitar upright on my knee. and i guess i wasn't really paying attention and my grip loosened and it fell flat on its face. i guess i just got really lucky that nut broke and not the head.

If the saddle took a direct hit by whatever it fell upon, yes the saddle can shatter, especially if it's plastic or old bone. They are quite brittle. Other, more resilient materials would likely be broken loose, but intact.
