Thanks for posting your photo. The wording sounds as if you no longer own the guitar.

In your experience how did it play ? Would it stay in tune ?

Those pickup's , which one's are they ?

That's just it... I never hung out at guitar forums before this place... It's YOU GUYS who are to blame!! Before this place' date=' I would get GAS once or twice a year! Sometimes unrequited! Now I get GAS [b']ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME![/b] And it MUST be SATED!

Look what you've done to me! Y'all should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!

this is why my axe collection doubled within 8 months....

I think this strongly points towards a Chinese 62 style Wilshire reissue at an affordable price.

Epiphone used the USA model to probably gauge how interested people were in the 60s stuff. And they seem to be captialising on the USA Lennon guitars with their inspired by Lennon MIC Casino due out soon.

I hope this will be followed with the pattern:

USA Crestwood >> Chinese Crestwood

USA Coronet >> Chinese Coronet

USA Olympic >> Chinese Olympic

I could be entirely wrong though. I hope whatever it is will come in more than just white because i definitely won't be buying it if it is in white.

And eventually if we want new models we'll have to give the Chinese guitars a chance. They've made remarkable acoustics and have had a few years at it now so it won't be long before a they'll be sounding great. It's not as if everyone wouldn't go out and mod out the electrics anyway...

**Edite: Those vintage style white knobs is mounting evidence.

But there's already a white Wilshire available. Admittedly not in a '62 style but i think the mid 60s models look coller anyway. Batwing headstock, non-symmetrical PG. I really hope they do bring out those faded wilshires out soon. I want something in faded black or faded red - is it too much to ask for some cool vintage green and blue finishes?

And from that pic, looks like it will be just as expensive as the other 62. What a waste of time and money on Epiphone's part. If you released something at $500 you'd sell about 1000 times more than you would these custom shop historic pieces. Who would even buy it when you can get 2 vintage Epis for that if you look long enough.

Bloody stupid if you ask me. What an anti-climax and disappointment. My only hope is that they'll have some cool reissues coming out of the chinese custom shop soon. It's not as if nobody is willing to pay $500-$1500 for an epiphone.

I agree. It may be cool to have if you can afford it, but I'd rather have a sub $500 or so guitar I can afford to buy and play. I am disappointed as well.

Don't despair MAXHART, there may be cheap wilshires coming.

Here is a link to the thread with the euro pix from march 09. These, along with several other unreleased EPI guitar pix were yanked from the euro site soon thereafter. Luckily, someone linked the photos so you can still see the ebony and cherry, mini-hum equipped "aged" wilshires that were supposed to be available "soon" at around $500...but who knows if they will actually come out with them

I'm still in the market for a cheap Wilshire to set up properly as a slide guitar:

I've been keeping my eye on the Guitar Center website. At the moment, the delivery date keeps going back (right now, it's set at June 1 2009). The price is good - $299. I'll probably place my order quite soon, because once they come into stock I expect Guitar Center and Musicians Friend will raise their price.

If the Wilshire never happens I could be tempted by a Danelectro Dead On '67 for this purpose:

But the Wilshire looks the better bet...a stable bridge that is more easily adjusted, and no dodgy trem to lock down etc. Those Dano tuners don't look too convincing either, do they? Plus, the Wilshire's an Epi!
