Well, some people may need that validation, that a famous person playing a like guitar would give them. And, that's not

(necessarily) a bad thing...but, I think it's human nature, to enjoy seeing someone you like or respect, using the same guitar,

or model, Epiphone or not, as you do. Doesn't have to be a "snob," thing, at all. More like..."Hey, cool...he/she's using a (insert

brand/model) guitar!" I'm not immune to that sentiment, myself...but, I certainly does not "validate" my choice, or cause me to

rush out, and buy the same thing. It might make me "look" at one, if I was interested enough in that type/brand, to begin with.

But, to buy one (now), just because so and so plays one...no way! I will conceed, that my Casino purchase 42 years ago, at age 16,

was in part, because The Beatles had them...but, had I not liked the guitar, in the first place, I wouldn't have bought it...JUST because

THEY played them. Anyway...to each his own.

It doesn't seem like the intent of the original post was asking if you buy guitars because someone famous plays or endorses them, but...

I've never really gave much attention to who plays what make of guitar. I mean I recognize or relate certain makes to certain musicians (Example: Fender - Clapton, Hendrix, Townsend...), but I never purchased one because of that.

Someone pointed out that many are just posed with the guitar and don't actually play them or maybe don't use them as their main guitar. I, like many people here, will see a guitar in a TV show or movie and will try to determine what they are playing, but I would never run out and get one because I saw a certain model in a movie or being played by someone famous.

Nope...and when I "preview' date='" it's as I wrote it, but when it's posted, it often times

comes out with that weird spacing. ????

Boy, that

is

really strange.

I noticed it

in a

couple of your

other posts.

I don't understand

what would cause

that.

Just kidding, I didn't want you to think you were being singled out.

star power validation -- too many others' comments on this forum admit to feeling somehow inferior b/c they own an Epi instead of a Gibby or other "famous" or high-end guitar. To me that mentality is sad and unjustified. So my validation comment was to elevate awareness -- make people think -- about their own situations.

I've said before, if you own it then you must have good reasons for doing so (preference, budget, features, etc.) -- so play it with pride and all the passion you can muster -- don't look for someone famous to validate your life choices, in guitars or otherwise. Our choices are valid b/c we made them -- WE ARE IMPORTANT!

Obviously, if the scenario does not apply to you - cool. Nothing wrong with saying, "wow, look at so-and-so playing an Epi."

Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby... I'm going to play on:-"

I play 2 of them happily. I'll have another 1 or 2 certainly.

When I started out, I was always trying to emulate whoever my main musical intrest of the time was. So I tried to parrot their gear. It HAD to be Gibson, Fender, Marshall, etc etc. HAD to be. And for sure part of that was insecurity about my sound and ability. I don't think as a younger man I would have even considered Epiphone, anymore than I would have considered *not* wearing Levi's jeans in favor of say...Wrangler.

Forward many years and lots of that has melted away. In most things, I just don't give a rat's *** anymore. [-( NOW, I 'm pretty comfortable with my sound, and I'd *rather* be the oddball who shows up to the blues jam w/ an EPI that can rip. And a few jams later show up with the Gib. Les Paul just so they know it's by choice. lol.

I have no particular attachment to Levi's anymore either...
