JefferySmith
No fault of yours, ItchySox. There seems to be confrontation in the air lately. It's not supposed to be a forum for arguing about Epiphones, but sometimes things get personal and that ignites a tiff. But back to the issue at hand, I think you will be happy with either a Dot or a Sheraton. Not much to separate the two IMO, but I like the Sheraton's looks more, and it is a sentimental favorite for some of us because it is an original Epiphone design (the ornate part, not the semihollow with humbuckers part) instead of copy of a Gibson guitar. The Riviera with the P90's seems to be unavailable now. You'd like the Sheraton.
Thermionik
Cool ItchySox - you're still around, phew..... And YOU have NOTHING to apologise for at all. And YOU were not stupid, it was a good question. So what happened to that, ahem, other guitar from way back when, I sense a good tale coming on here..... ItchySox
So what happened to that' date=' ahem, [i']other[/i] guitar from way back when,I sense a good tale coming on here..... When I left that band the other members asked me to sell it to their new guitarist, in the interests of maintaining the 'sound' as it were and like a fool I did... I soo wish I hadn't. Here's another one of mine that got away, a friend gave me this when I was 15... Btw, it's a red 1964 Burns Nu-Sonic. I must have been crazy, but I digress. Just Strum
Incidentally' date=' this is what I got when I was 17, I won't speak the name... [img']http://s368.photobucket.com/albums/oo124/ItchySox/guitar/58b3d419.jpg[/img] If I were you, I wouldn't feel any guilt regarding starting this post. The tiff has settled and all is good. However, I would feel guilt about selling that Gibson or maybe remorse, or maybe both. Good luck on your next purchase.
ItchySox
It wasn't a Gibson, thankfully, it's was an A*****a, nice tho. The original would have been a Gibson Crest. ->Big price for the original... Hmm, www.vintageguitars.org.uk seems to be down, that's a shame. Stewie
I would say the Dot would be a good choice. It is closer in feel to the 335 than the Sheraton. Other than that they are pretty much the same guitar. Like I said I would lean more to the Korean made Dots. I had a Chinese made Epi Standard and it was pretty good but I had to sift through a complete shipment that had come in at a local guitar shop. All had problems with loose tuners, poorly aligned bridges. Of course this was when the switch was first made to the Chinese factories. Maybe QC has improved since 2006. I don't know what the prices are like for this type of guitar in the UK, but used dots can be had for a very reasonable price around here. And I really haven't heard a lot of guys complain about getting a bad Dot or Sheraton, most either love them or keep them for a while then realize they wanted an LP. Make sure you try them out first though. They can vary quite a lot in weight. I had an Ebony Sheraton that was about 10 lbs. The Natural that I have is about 7.5 lbs quite a difference. Since you have owned and played a similar style of guitar you know what to expect. Make sure you update us on what you finally get.

I had imagined another Big 'G' somewhere. Thanks
ItchySox
I doubt I'd do general gigs with a real 355, it wouldn't be chewing gum money for me at present, even if it weren't vintage, I'd relax a lot more with a dot and more so with a new one. What led me to this forum was a Line 6 Variax 600, hmm yeah, ok. I've been using it a lot lately because it's convenient, but I noticed after a while there were only two models I was using most of the time and one of them was a "1961 ES-335". I don't make them, I just enforce them. Of course my sacrifice is for the other members only as I have no interest in a free Casino.
bluelake07
Well' date=' if we're going to "Fantasyland," I think I like to have Keeley Hazel show up, wearing nothing but an ES-345! Wouldn't even care if she can't sing or play a note! LOL! CB[/quote'] Keeley Hazel...I googled her! My SafeSearch was off and...oh my. So, what are we talking about here? Tuning knobs? charlie brown
LOL! Yeah, she's amazing! "Perfect knobs" to my way of thinking. She'd certainly "turn up" the volume, here! Reminds one of the Epiphone headstock (Hour glass shape)... ;>) But then, "Page 3" girls are all quite "Fetching," as they say. I (initially) found her, in one of "those" e-mail's that was forwarded to me, regarding girls in hot T-shirts, etc...and I must say, the shot of her in that "Britian" tank-top, was lovely! So, then...I did the same thing...Googled her name, and "Oh My God!" Love those British "Birds!" But then, I always have, seemingly. Enjoy!
