one Casino and a Coke to go please...

Hi,

As you can see in my avatar I love my Casino. =D>=P~ =P~ The only problem is: The floating tailpiece rattles like hell when I play it unplugged... A solution would be to install a Bigsby Tailpiece (I was thinking of a B7 or B11). I can't think of another solution, can you?

If I were to buy a Bigsby Tailpiece (which has 4 Screws where the strapbutton is) are the 2 upper holes of the tailpiece congruent to the ones of my old floating trapeze tailpiece or do I need to drill new holes? I'm asking this, cause I wanna be 100% sure that I needn't drill two additional holes (to the ones I already have to drill below the strapbutton)... anyone have experience with a stock B7 Tailpiece upgrade before?

I'm not talking about the special Epiphone Bigsby Tailpiece which has a special hole configuration (I just don't like the looks of it..)

Sincerely

Nick

Very good question John.

I've often wondered this for either a B7 or B70 on my Sheri...They do have different screen holes and am not sure which would be best for a Sheraton with single strap screw...

thanks for the super-quick reply! =)

I didn't realise that there was a B70 with 3 holes (which would line up with the three holes of my casino).

But: What's the difference between those two (B7, B70) except for their number of holes? One is shiny and has a PatentAppliedFor on it (B7), the other is brushed and hasn't (B70). Is the quality the same?

That's strange' date=' it shouldn't rattle. My Casino has a rattle but that only happens I have the pup selector switch in the middle.

](*,) ](*,) ](*,) That may also be it although the rattling comes more from the tailpiece than the switch (and I wanted to install a Biggersby anyway ;) )... so... swoop out the selector switch for a better one while I'm on it?

The holes may or may not line up.

For example the b70 I put on my epi lp didn't line up holewise..

however, the same model on my sheri did line up.

In fact, it was very much easier to mount the b70 on the sheri than the lp because things lined up so well.

I have no idea if this is true of ALL sheris with the b70.

There seems to be some things about screw holes, etc., that can vary depending on where it was made, at least.

If you tailpiece rattles, you should be able to track that down.

You have a piece at the heel.. yo have the trapeze arrangement. you connect to the strings.

the rods that connect to the bar at each end should be able to be tested for connect.. it might need a rubber washer where the rods connect to

the bar, for example.

You should be able to strike a chord then press a finger tip to different places on the tail and find the rattle.

You could always buy another trapeze tailpiece.. but I really think the one you have should be fixable.

A bigsby would be great if that's what you want, though.

And I'd bet a good fit, too.

If you don't want to also spring for a roller bridge, I'd say at least get graph tech saddles for the bridge you have.

I used locking tuners on my epi lp, and a roller bridge. But I'm fairly sure the locking tuners weren't really needed for tuning stability.

Works great. sounds great. Looks great, too.

I thought it was somewhere in the bridge as well.... I was going out of my mind trying to find the rattle. Then I went to Harmony Central to write a review on my JL Rev and started reading the other reviews, and one person stated he "didnt like the fact the pup selector would vibrate in the middle position."

Sure as **** that was it.... So now when I play acoustically I just position the switch in the treble position and no more rattle.

Now from what I gathered from here, there's really not much you can do about the rattle.... Also contact TWANG about the Bigsby, he's installed them on Casinos

Ok, then I need a B7, cause there you don't have the problem with the Strapbutton hole not being congruent to the on on the Bigsby... The thing I wonder about are if the bigsby holes will be congruent with these holes...

I just don't want to be drilling 100000 holes just for a Bigsby... I don't want ugly (uncovered) holes to stick out of the guitar....

I've got a black b70 here.. I'm going to unbox it..

and then I'll measure the distance between the holes.. It has the same hole line up as yours..

I'll measure the distance from the top edge to the center hole..

and the distance between the two outside holes..

and then I'll post it..

I'm doing other things, so it may be an hour or two.

But it looks to me like the b70 would go right on there.

The sheraton only has one hole. not having a trapeze tail. and it lined up on mine perfectly.

The difference between the B7 and the B-70 is that the B-7 is actually a Bigsby made from hand-cast aluminum where the B-70 is a die-cast (like those little toy cars) Asian knock-off that's been licensed by Bigsby...the B-7 is the real deal, The B-70 is a cheap Asian knock-off. Ted McCarty died in 2001 and Fred Gretsch Jr. who put Gretsch guitars in the tubes in the 70's took over and started licensing the cheap Asian knock-off...personally, I think any Bigsby is a tone killer and has so little real-life use that unless the majority of the music you're playing is Duane Eddy covers I'd go with a higher quality Trapeze with a cast block...good luck whatever you do..Elderly's has about the best price for the B-70- $82.50 and buy something else to take that above $89 and shipping is free...Elderly's has also been an actual guitar shop for almost forty years and aren't likely to screw up your order Give them a call and get some professional advice 1-888-.473-5810 Good luck,

Hi,

Thanks for your replys!

I really want a B7... I want the real deal...

I've tried to put some foam under the trapeze tailpiece, but that didn't work out... But I wanted to swap it anyways cause replacing the strings with this is a bit a paine in the *ss (I know, I could replace one string at a time, but since I clean my guitar after every used set of strings I allways take 'em all out..).

82$ seems like a great price since in Switzerland these go for 350 swiss francs (--> 300$)...

I wish someone could post a pic of a Casino with a B7 Upgrade...

well a bigsby can also be a pain in the bottom when trying to restring. They sure do look sweet with the bigs though. Mine came with one already stuck on good and proper.
