As of now im playing through a fender 25r and a zakk wylde overdrive. i can get some very nice blues tones but no metal!!!!! im gonna get a distortion pedal today and i want some feedback on what others use. I think im going to buy the nano metal muff pocket pedal (cuz i can afford it:-" accept not)

have you given any thought to getting a multi-fx pedal. I tell you these things are great, they can do all types of music because of the amp modeling, you'll love any multi-fx's "Rectifier" emulation for the metal you want to also play.

The Digitech RP55 I had was great and cheap and would work perfectly in front of your Fender amp. You want to use multi-fx boxes in front of a perfectly clean amp, don't use any dist or reverb from the amp (well reverb if you like it).

These units plugged into a computer soundcard and coming out you pc's speakers (a subwoofer is a definite plus)sound better than the loads of amps I've tried. For your regular home use I'm talking, live gigging is different.

And talking about multi-fx's and straight-into-soundcard thing... I'd choose (and I have, though have not received it yet) a multi-fx with an external soundcard feature. Just judging by my own, sort of HD, built-in soundcard, the quality you get through one of these is really crappy. With an external unit one would get a delayed signal though, but that is mostly fixed with ASIO drivers

FWIW, mine are an early '80s DOD Overdrive/Preamp 250, a Boss Chorus CE-2 (mono) of about the same vintage, an MXR Micro Flanger, ditto (all three of these were purchased new), a Boss Equalizer, and a Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer compressor that plugs into the guitar (or used to, rather--I reversed it so it plugs into the amp). I have a Johnson J-Station, but that's more of a desktop sound processor similar to the Pod, and a vintage Rockman II (personal amp).

Don't really use these much any more, since I'm playing mainly on the front pickup, with as clean a sound as I can get. Maybe I'll fire 'em up again . . .[biggrin]

ok ok, i got the rp155, oh my god it rocks. from metal to blues and everything inbetween. 83 known amp/cab and effects, even a 20second looper. usb and all that, grand total 85, which my trade covered. it sounds great im really impressed because the deltalab sucked but digitech effin rocks. unlimited tone between the lp, digi, and fender frontman 25r

I'm running Ibanez TS7-Line 6 Crunchtone-Behringer VD100-Crate Palomino V32 with Sonic Stomp and Behringer Volume Pedal in effects loop. Also a tuner and Boss Noise gate in there, with OD pedals in noise gate loop. I tired of my Pod, everything sounded synthetic and fake. Once I started using pedals straight into the amp, I realized how much nuance the (at least older) modelling doohickeys take away. Only thing I miss is the wah from the Pod. It was based on old Vox wah, and that's next on my list to buy once I sell my Pod and Floor board. I've heard really good things about some of the newer multi effect getups, so grats! Enjoy the smorgasbord of tone!

I'm an Elegance In Simplicity guy. The only pedal I run (sometimes) is a Boss PW-10 Wah. But then, my Marshall has gain for miles. But then, the PW-10 has a bunch of OD/Distortion pedal models built in. But then, I've never tried them. [confused]

The boss does a very accurate Bad Horsie 2 sound, which is what I'm after, and I got it on the cheap for half the price of the real deal. [biggrin]

Here's mine...................

All of the sounds that I want and need all together in one :)

When playng live I use the extra output on the acoustic simulator and send the signal straight to the PA when the pedal is on.

I was given the Jekyll and Hyde O/D and Distortion pedal by Visual Sounds - I love this box ; it is 2 pedals in one. You can leave the distortion on while you play and use the overdrive at a click of a switch. I believe the Tube Screamer chip is in there...I love it, it's all I'll ever need ! :-({|=

Fantana, what do you think of the AC-2? I have a Roland Cube 20x that uses the AC-3 for the acoustic sim on it, and when I split my humbuckers on my SG it sounds pretty fair, but you have to scoop the mids out to get a decent sound with it. If I use any humbuckers or even my Goldtop with P-90's it loses that acoustic tone. Does the AC-2 individual pedal have that issue, or is it a little friendlier to humbuckers?

I have a Line 6 Pod X3 Live.

Yes, it is a modelling pedal, with tons of amps effects, wah and volume pedal all for guitar bass and vocals.

So it may not be your cup of tea live but at home and to record on your computer it is great.

Plus, it gives me the possibility to experiment with different combinations of amps and cabs.

And you can have two different rigs as well.

For someone like me who does not play live (unfortunatelly) this is cool.

i know exactly how you feel. I am enjoying my multi processor as well, and its perfect for solo playin and experimenting. Vintage and current amp modelers, tons of pedals to play with, and sound pretty good if you get a good one. My rp155 is amazizing and ive heard a ton of good about the line 6. ive been playin with the fender bassman modeler a lot

I do have to change the settings for each guitar to get the best out of it, for example my acoustic settings for my Casino do not work with my Firebird and vice versa. If it had storable settings it would be amazing. I just played around with it until I got the sound I wanted for each guitar.

I use an Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 which is pretty much on all the time, that is my general sound. I also have a liitle big muff which i use as a boot/distortion on top of the TS9. I believe a guitar should have only two sounds: clean and dirty! and you you shoudn't really have it on clean!
