Fantana
So with my Goldtop being only a few months away, I have to say that my GAS was almost life-threatening. I couldn't eat or sleep and found myself hanging around guitar shops before opening time.................... Then I found this on a local second hand website, it's a 'road-worn' 2000 MIK Unsung '56 Goldtop, completely stock. It has lots of little knocks, dings and scratches but it sings like a angel :) I can't wait to get the electrics replaced and have her set-up to my liking. AlanH
MOJO was no extra charge then. Looks very nice. Alan
cubbiesinger
Very nice! How do you like the vintage tuners? I have a line on an LP that has those tuners and the grovers seem more robust. How does these vintage ones hold up and work? Do your guitars stay in tune well?

animalfarm
FANTANA - Dang-nabbit!!! The last thing I needed was to start slobbering over a Goldtop! Very nice, very nice. And to top it off, you have your Hand-made one on the way, too. I can see that a man with your impeccable tastes would simply not be satisfied with the Goldtop - it has faint scratches on the back. It will just not measure up to your exacting standards.... Can I have it????? Dang! NOW I want a Goldtop.

Willy P90's are my favourite pickup, these Epi ones sound pretty good, will be able to get the full potential out of them on monday when I get it back from Andy, he's replacing all of the pots, caps etc. MOJO was no extra charge then. Looks very nice. Alan The camera hasn't really shown the gold in it's true light, but still looks great. Very nice! How do you like the vintage tuners? I have a line on an LP that has those tuners and the grovers seem more robust. How does these vintage ones hold up and work? Do your guitars stay in tune well? The tuners work very well, they don't slip and are smooth in operation. Plus I love the green tulips. FANTANA - Dang-nabbit!!! The last thing I needed was to start slobbering over a Goldtop! Can I have it????? Dang! NOW I want a Goldtop. You see the problem that we have Animalfarm, is that me and you alike are just guitar perverts - fact. So I think you'd better go out and buy a goldtop too, before the Gas gets wayyy too bad.
dcooper830
Congrats! I have an Epi '56 Goldtop and I love it!!!!! I did have a problem with the stock P90s buzzing too much with higher gain tones. Also they were microphonic at band volumes. So I replaced them with a set of Seymour Duncan STK-P1 P90s and all is well. I love that guitar soooo much!! Classic looks, great tone and playability for a very affordable price! Fantana
Ah DC! big fan of your YouTube videos, seems like you have a million guitars! The P90s in my one are as noisy as you'd expect from any single coil, but because I use a Boss NS-2 it just cuts out all hum, even when boosting with a TS9. I do however have plans to upgrade them in the future, but I've just had the pots/caps/switch/jack replaced and they actually sound pretty awesome so will keep them for a while. animalfarm
Fantana I hate you right now :P I want a goldtop so bad!!! Sketchy, Add me to the list. I know - we can spray paint an LP Special II GOLD, glue a couple of fake knobs on, then glue a couple of bars of soap on the pickups. He'll never know the difference. Now, how do we make the switch?
