good lord can this really be an unused 68 FT?

While it may have started out as a FT-110 1968 after this many years there should be something of wear on it and some crackling of the finish. Its just to pristine which makes me wonder if it might have been that FT-110 that was sold a while back as a project guitar on E-bay. Okay and lets talk price a old style body in the most excellent shape from 41-49 wouldn't sell for that high of a price ( between $3000-$3500.00).

This has to have been refurbished from scratch. Oh and that E on it looks to be about the right age on the pick guard but I would be extremely cautious about buying this one, I mean after 42 years of even sitting in its case there should be some tarnish ( tuners ) and some crackling ( especially the headstock, do you see how thick it looks compared to other older ones ) and even the saddle and nut look to be brand new and either plastic or bone would have discouloured by this point.Ship

not so ship,...i have a 66" casino that was in a case for 43 years and it is showroom new. no chescking and the chrome on the p-90's is perfect. the guitar still has the orig. flatwounds from the factory and was never de-tuned. the guitar plays like the day they made it. just goes to show.... leave em in the case.

cheers

I am on board with Ship on this one.

While my memory resembles swiss cheese, if I recall the 1968 Frontier had a screwed on pickguard. I am not even sure they had the epsilon logo on the scratchplate but I may be dead wrong about that one. My initial reaction is the guitar has gone through some serious restoration. Hopefully somebody a bit more knowledgeable -or at least with a better memory - will chime in.

Mowtowntom, still has the original flatwounds and still sounds great after that many years in a guitar case that was never de-tuned. That has to be a bit of a strech for me to believe that they still sound great, but what ever this guitar was not left in its case and I am almost 100% positive that it was on E-bay a ways back and was sold and re-furbished to make it look new again, but thats just my opinion.

As for leaving them in a case, well this one I am going to argue till I am blue in the face, what good is a guitar left in its case, they are meant to be played and are not a musical instrument if they never come out, then its just something taking up living space and a waste of money, guitars are meant to be played period.Ship

Oh yeah, that's the one you ripped off from that old gentleman by not telling him the real value of his guitar, right? Everytime I remember this story I remind myself to be prepared to do the right thing if a situation like that ever comes up. I'm not kidding.

I was finally able to snag my dream guitar that Ive been searching high and low for. It seems like everytime I found one, they were asking 5500-7900...WOW! Anyway, I was off from work today and happened to look stumble across a listing on ebay. Make a long story short, i managed to call the dealer and we hammered out a very VERY VERY good price! I was wondering if anyone else has a Frontier. Id really like hear back from someone else who has 1! Tpost-15280-073960300 1288311403_thumb.jpg

And now this is how I remmeber the FT-110 looking like compared to the other one listed back a ways.

And if you look real close the first one listed had what looks like a label that was written on to give us the model numer, I am pretty sure that they were stamped like the one I listed.Ship

Please note the price difference also and the pickguard.
