MrNylon
Ouch! Two months. I hope yours turns out as well as mine did time wise. Like I said before, four months from Gibson turned into three weeks. I was very lucky.
Lungimsam
Hopefully I will get the same time frame you got, proportionately. That means sometime late next week. Ha ha. My bass will be so new I'll be able to smell the freshly sawn mahogany. I hope it arrives soon.
MrNylon
You'll almost get tired or sick of the new case smell at times.

MrNylon
True, but it gets real strong in a small room. It is a unique fragrance. I'll take it over the room deodorizer smell any day.
Lungimsam
gsgbass: This is a longshot; but, do you remember what strings came stock on your '69 EBO?
MrNylon
Back then i didn't pay any attention to it. I don't remember what brand the nylons were when I changed them, but they sounded great on that EB0. May have been Gibsons.
Lungimsam
My LaBella 49-109 shortscales came in the mail today. Ohhhh, I can taste the mahogany...any day now (I hope).

Lungimsam
A very Happy New Year to you, too! Have not heard anything. It's about a month now. Maybe I'll call him just to be sure he really ordered it. Chompin' at the bit to get my hands on it!! Have you tracked down your strings yet? MrNylon
I put the strings on hold. I really like the feel and the sound I'm getting from the nickel D'Addario strings that came on this SG from Gibson. The MB450H Marshall head is very receptive to strings. There really isn't a sound I can't get with this set up. The Mesa M6 Carbine head was very close to this, but I just like the MB450H better with the SG. My G&L SB-2 I traded for the SG did sound better through the Mesa. And to be honest about it, most players weather they want to admit it or not, or evan realize they do it, get a product name in their head. After so many years of seeing, hearing, and moving amps around, Marshall is my Amp of choice. To me there is a reverence to seeing a half stack or a full stack of Marshalls that screams HARD ROCK to me from the late 60's to early 70's. MrNylon
Hey Lungimsam; I was able to get in almost 3 full hours of play time today. I should have mentioned it here instead of the other thread in the bass section, but have you heard about your SG order?
Lungimsam
...nothing yet...I wanted to call him again, but figured it won't make it come any faster, and I don't want to annoy the salesman.

69 Son
Hey nice bass! If we're talking flatwounds, I can't recommend Thomastiks Nickel Flats enough, they were very sweet and lively on my medium scale Alembic.
69 Son
Are the SG basses as proportionally light as SG guitars?
MrNylon
Hey 69 Son; It's been awhile since I handled an SG 6stringer. I can tell you my SG Std. Bass doesn't feel heavy at all. I would think the SG guitar and bass should be pretty close in weight.
Lungimsam
My pbasses are 8.8-9 lbs each. So the SG bass has gotta be lighter than that. I will weigh mine when I get it and let you know. I'll weigh my '61 RI SG guitar too.
Lungimsam
Ps- what does GAS mean? I see so many people use the term. I gather it means serious craving. But what is the origin of the term? Is it an abbreviation?
