Will Scott
Hi, i recieved a tom delonge es333 sig today, and after a while, noticed the stud on the bridge seems to be raised, their is also a small hairline crack in the finish on the opposite side of the said stud, just wondered if you could have a look at the picture and tell me if this is normal... cheers Ps. im not sure if this was present when i first got the guitar as i didn't notice it when i noticed the hairline crack
Fantana
It all looks fine to me, I've never seen a flush fitting stud on any guitar! The hairline crack could be from anything, if it bothers you then send it back. If not, enjoy a great guitar :)
neilpanda
looks completely fine. but with the height of your bridge you action must be high! you most not have any string buzz at all!

Nothing to worry about. Don't know about the crack, keep an eye on it to see if it changes at all. Enjoy the guitar!
brianh
That bridge does seem a tad high and the string break angle somewhat acute. Can you post a pic or two of the crack and a wide shot of the entire body from the side? It's probably nothing serious, but hard to tell from that one photo. Will Scott
Hey, thanks for the replies. I will try to get some more pictures in the morning when the light is better. Only thing is, this is infact the 3rd one ive owned in the space of the month, first time was for a similar hairline crack, but bigger. (probably nothing but i wanted it sorting cos it was more visible) and the second time, the neck snapped because of the courriers. But yeah, will get some pictures of the crack in the morning
Will Scott
Here are the pictures requested... This tailpiece is also raised and slightly cracked on the opposite side, on this side of the bridge? The photo quality isn't great, sorry
brianh
Those look like finish stress cracks, probably nothing to worry about. The action does look a little high - have you had this guitar set up by a tech? If not, it might be worth it unless you like high action (some people do). BillyGibson
Those are cracks in the poly finish from pounding in the stud. I'd send it back or if it doesn't bother you, get a discount as it is a blemmished guitar.
Will Scott
Again, thanks for the replies. The cracks do not bother me, what i want to know really, is are they likely to get worse, and in the long term, will they cause any 'real' damage? Also i have already sent one back for this same problem, it seems it could just be common with these guitars Thanks

Also i have already sent one back for this same problem, it seems it could just be common with these guitars Thanks Being that the cracks are where the solid center block is, I'd think the structural integrity of the guitar will be OK, although its ugliness is forever...... (sorry - I couldn't resist)

(sorry - I couldn't resist) haha yeah but in most light they're invisible, and you can only see them when you look for them anyway. (which i was as it's the third one I've had)
Fringe Lunatic
I was talking about the guitar itself..... Edit: I have a similar-looking, not particularly pretty Dot Studio, but I wouldn't put a racing stripe on it.
Will Scott
Oh fair enough... i like it... im a huge fan of blink and every single es335 you see looks the same. pretty much always cherry red with a black pickguard... I like how different it is
brianh
I like it - the simplicity of a Jr. with the body of a 335. The natural neck is a nice touch too. I'd be tempted to put a push/pull coil-splitting pot in it though, just for a little tonal variation.

The thing about this guitar is that it plays very well and the tone with the dirty fingers pup is incredible - it's one very sweet guitar, seriously...I can not get over how good it sounds. Will Scott
Yeah, it's perfect for what I play live... and if i ever want really warm sounding cleans my strat on the neck pickup will do that
