charlie brown
Here (again) is my '60's Tribute Gold Top, 2-piece back, center seam. Got it, a bit over 2 weeks ago. They are, virtually, identical, EXCEPT...there are no "orange caps," in the '60's version, and the necks are a bit thinner, as advertised, on the '60's, as well. And, my '50's & '60's "Twins." davidrebel
I don't know if this means something, but the 50's GT I received yesterday was built in december 2010 (serial starts with 13280) - could that possibly mean it's part of a new run or did Gibson produce the guitars of the first run up until december 2010? Cheers - David
charlie brown
Only Gibson can answer that, for sure...but, I would assume, it's one "edition," in as many "runs," as it took, to complete. With the flood, behind them, they had a LOT of "Catching up" to do, in all models. So, it makes sense, to me, that they'd do various runs, of various models, to try to keep things (somewhat) balanced, in output. Then coming back, as needed, to complete these "limited editions," etc. But...I may be wrong, too? CB
