original or fake?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have seen this LP on ebay italy.

I am quite dubious about this guitar.

Price asked is 700 euros (mmm.... [unsure] )

Is it fake or original?

I am not an expert on LPs, so, please help me identify this guitar

Which are the most important "things" I should look for in a fake?

the ownder forwarded to me an email (supposedly) from Gibson Customer Service which says that the guitar is original and correspond to a Les Paul Classic, Wine Red colorm built in 2008 in Nashville , US.

[unsure]

I contacted tech support and wait for a reply...

Even if the serial number does check out...

The serial number being genuine is not the same thing as the guitar being genuine.

You've been advised, twice, that it's a fake. There are perhaps a dozen things wrong with that guitar.

The asking price alone should have been enough to warn you off. If it were genuine it would cost at least 1,500 Euros.

I'm not going to list all the mistakes but, just to help you out, I'll tell you that Gibson has never used a screw-in bridge post like this. Fakers, however, do.

yeah, I know,

in fact I don't want to buy this guitar.

the price is the first thing that alarmed me.

I mainly collect 1960-70's Italian and Japanese guitars (tesico and that stuff) but am no expert on Les Pauls and Gibson in general...

I simply want to be 100% sure that this is not original and then report the auction to ebay and gibson
